𐬺Meet Me Thereꔘ
Matilda's POV༒ ༒25th September, 1985
Chrissy was sat on her bed, kicking her legs back and forth, hitting the blanket that was neatly draped over her pink duvet.
Just like when we were in our freshman year, Chrissy and I were flicking through her collection of magazines about movies and music, celebrity gossip and fashion trends.
Jason's name was on the tip of my tongue, the way he'd tricked me for months and hated me, his girlfriend's best friend.
I so badly wanted to tell her because she seemed to be so blind of his mistreatment of me, but I also didn't want to make her feel guilty in any way.
I nibbled on my bottom lip and watched as Chrissy stared at her magazine, consumed by an article about 'Grease 2'. I have to tell her, "So - um - Jason," I sigh out, nervously.
Chrissy looks up at me, she grins and a giggle escapes her lips, "Jason? I - er - I think he's at the hangout tonight with the others."
I timidly giggle, "No I mean - he's - been kinda mean recently - I mean - not just recently, since I first met him in freshman year, before you two were even dating," I confess, more confidently than I thought, though I found myself staring at Chrissy's flower shaped rug on the floor instead of her.
Chrissy's legs stopped swinging and the grin she had on her lips faltered slightly before she forced herself the smile, "I'm sure he doesn't actually mean it, it's just in his nature to tease people - he teases Patrick all the time - even me and I'm his girlfriend."
I sit up slightly, frustrated and then sigh softly, "The way that Jason treats me isn't just teasing - it's more than that, it's bullying."
Chrissy's brows furrow at my serious tone, "Is there - something I don't know about? Something that Jason has done? Because I've only ever seen teasing between the two of you."
My mouth hung open, I tilt my head as I fiddle with the tips of my fingers, "I know that - in middle school we always said we'd never hide anything from each other-," I frown, my heart sinking at the fact that she knew so little about all that had happened this year when she was supposed to be my best friend, "I've actually been hiding a few - things - about Jason."
