Matilda's POV༒ ༒10th October, 1985
"Psst," Eddie leant towards me, closing the gap between our two desks - we were currently halfway through one of Mrs O'Donnell's history lessons, she'd ordered for us to write a timeline of events from the year 1900 to now - 1985.
His eyes were big as he stared at me, reminding me of chocolate buttons and they looked desperate - he was in need of help, I knew it as I tapped the end of my pen against the paper I was writing on. It wasn't the first time that he'd done this, asked for help - it happened in every history class and I saw the way that everybody, Mrs O'Donnell included, turned to stare whenever Eddie tried to catch my attention... only now, I don't care.
I turn to face him with a smile - ignoring Chrissy's extremely confused face, Jason's smug face and Mrs O'Donnell's concerned one.
"What happened in 1979?" Eddie asks in a whisper, he was slightly embarrassed, I could tell by the way his cheeks turned pink.
I gasp softly, making him look even more anxious, "You were graced with my presence for the very first time - how could you forget, Munson?" I whisper back, giggling softly as Eddie rolls his eyes playfully.
Eddie visibly relaxes back onto his seat, still facing me, "I did not - what I meant wasss - what happened in 1979 other than that very - sp-ecial day," he snorts softly, his nose crinkling at the same time.
"A very wicked save," I state with an even bigger smile, Eddie mirrors it and looks down. I feel my entire body become warm and it makes me cough, "Um - S.A.L.T II - the er - the first female to become prime minister in the United Kingdom. Oh - there was a total lunar eclipse... the last one of this entire century - pretty amazing right? you've gotta remember that!"
Eddie squints his eyes, "Yeah, actually - I also remember the rise of the Walkman, I got my very first tape that year - Van Halen II-," excitement and passion lights up in his eyes, "You know it?"
"Munson!" Mrs O'Donnell, annoyed, hits her hand against the blackboard and glares at him with her stern and beady eyes.
Eddie jumps in his chair, his back immediately straightening and facing the front of the class, his eyes wide with fear.
When she realises that she's got his full attention she continues, "This is an independent activity - anything you do have to say out loud is meant for the ears of the rest of the class and my own."
"Sorry - Mrs O'Donnell - we - were actually talking about the work," Eddie speaks more confidently now, his eyes flickering between the students and Mrs O'Donnell.
