After an untimely death, I woke up in the world of my favorite otome game...only to realize I'd been reborn as the villainess, the character destined for ruin. Great.
At first, I thought I was the heroine, who wouldn't want to be the star of their o...
The voice was high-pitched and soft, reminiscent of my mother's. I turned to face the source and, for a brief moment, a flash of light blinded my eyes. My vision wavered, blurring before slowly coming back into focus.

Standing before me was a young girl with ash-brown hair. Her emerald eyes shimmered with curiosity, and she wore a vintage green lolita dress with a preppy flair. Somehow, I knew the style, despite never seeing it before in this life.
'Ow...what was that flash?' I blinked several times, trying to shake off the strange feeling. The girl stepped closer, her expression growing concerned.
"U-uh...are you okay, Lady Martina?" she asked gently, her voice laced with worry. I snapped out of my daze, feeling my cheeks flush with embarrassment.
"Y-Yes! I'm fine," I stammered, offering a sheepish smile. She giggled softly, her emerald eyes sparkling with relief.
"So, you are Lady Martina?" she asked again, her voice more confident this time.
I nodded. "Yes. Sorry if this is rude, but...who are you?" Her eyes widened slightly, a blush creeping up her cheeks as she looked down at her shoes.
"W-we're the same age, Lady Martina," she replied softly, her voice barely above a whisper. I blinked, my mind struggling to adjust to the fact that I was, indeed, still a child. She tilted her head, her expression puzzled. "My name is Shikari Kanami...and I'm...um...your sister-in-law!"
I stared at her, completely dumbfounded. "Y-You're my what?" I blurted out, my voice louder than I intended. Heads turned in our direction, but I couldn't bring myself to care. Sister-in-law? What nonsense was she talking about?
Shikari flinched slightly at my reaction. "Y-yes... I'm your sister-in-law," she mumbled nervously. "I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to surprise you!"
I took a deep breath, forcing myself to calm down. "N-No, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell," I said quickly, trying to smooth things over. "But...what do you mean sister-in-law?"
Her cheeks flushed deeper, and she began fiddling with her fingers nervously. "W-well...you're supposed to be my brother's fiancée..."
My heart skipped a beat. Fiancée? I stared at her, waiting for the punchline, but her serious expression told me she wasn't joking.
Before I could respond, the sound of footsteps echoed from behind me. A boy's voice followed. "Shikari? What are you doing here?"
Shikari's eyes brightened as she turned around. "Oh! Brother!" she called cheerfully, rushing to stand beside him. My heart dropped as I finally laid eyes on him. He was my...fiancé?
He looked my age, with jet-black hair and striking silver eyes. His uniform was neat and proper, accentuating his regal demeanor. He was...well, cute, I had to admit. But that didn't make this any less weird.
"Oh? Who's this?" he asked, his voice polite but curious.
Shikari grinned broadly. "That's Lady Martina! Your fiancée!" she announced with pride.
The boy's eyes widened with surprise, but a smile soon crept onto his lips. He stepped forward, bending one knee as he took my hand and pressed a light kiss to it. "I knew she'd be beautiful," he said with a dazzling smile that made my face flush instantly.
I quickly pulled my hand back, my cheeks burning. "U-um, nice to meet you," I managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper.
Shikari giggled beside me. "See? Isn't she adorable?" she chimed in happily.
Before I could respond, the bell rang loudly, signaling the start of class. Shikari grabbed my hand and pulled me along. "We have to go! Come on!" she shouted, her voice full of excitement.
We rushed down the hallway, weaving between students until we finally arrived at our classroom. Shikari led me to a seat by the window, practically bouncing with energy. "We made it!" she said, catching her breath.
I chuckled at her enthusiasm. "Yeah...we did," I replied, settling into my seat. She then turned to gaze at our interlocked hands. She instantly yanked her fingers away after turning a bright tomato red. Huh? Has she developed a fever?
The classroom was elegant, with polished wooden desks and velvet curtains framing large windows that overlooked the castle grounds. It was unlike any school I'd ever known.
As we waited for class to start, Shikari turned to me with wide eyes. "By the way, Lady Martina, do you have your element mark yet?"
"Element mark?" I asked, tilting my head in confusion.
She took my hand and examined my palm. "Oh! It's so pretty!" she exclaimed, showing me the swirling mark that rested there. Another flash of light struck me, blinding my vision for a moment before clearing.

'Ow...not again...' I rubbed my eyes and squinted at the mark. It was...different than I remembered. The last time I saw it, it was blue...but now it had hints of teal swirled within.
"What is this?" I asked bluntly.
Shikari chuckled and let go of my hand. "That's your element mark, Lady Martina!" she said cheerfully.
"Element mark?"
Before Shikari could answer, our teacher entered the classroom, catching his breath. "Alright, students, let's begin class," he announced, straightening his posture. "Today, we will learn how to activate our magic!"
The room erupted in cheers, and the teacher laughed warmly. "Calm down, calm down! Now, everyone look at your right-hand palm."
All the children gasped as they glanced at their hands. "That mark is your Element Mark," the teacher explained. "It's the source of your magic! Each mark is unique, symbolizing your element. Common ones include Water, Fire, Wind, Ice, Earth, Flora, and Electricity."
The teacher's face grew more serious. "There are also special elements—Telekinesis, Illusion, Speed, Gravity, Transformation, and Animal. And the rarest of them all... Light." His eyes scanned the room. "Light magic can heal, create barriers, and attack dark magic users."
A student raised his hand. "What about the bad element, Teacher?"
The teacher's eyes darkened. "There's only one... Dark Magic. It's dangerous and corrupts its user. If someone has it... their element must be reset." His voice was firm, and the room grew quiet.
I felt Shikari cling to me. "That's scary... I hope no one has it," she whispered.
'Light and Dark magic, huh?' I thought, staring at my mark. I guess I'd find out soon enough...
"Now it's time to check your element!" the teacher announced, and the class buzzed with excitement. ________________________
