After an untimely death, I woke up in the world of my favorite otome game...only to realize I'd been reborn as the villainess, the character destined for ruin. Great.
At first, I thought I was the heroine, who wouldn't want to be the star of their o...
Our teacher led us through the grand hallway until we reached a massive set of double doors guarded by two towering sentinels. He approached one of the guards, whispering something inaudible. They nodded respectfully before pushing open the doors with a heavy groan, revealing the breathtaking view beyond.
"Here it is, the training field!" our teacher announced, folding his hands behind his back. A collective gasp escaped from the group as we stepped forward, eyes wide with wonder.

The field stretched far and wide, framed by towering trees that stood like ancient guardians, their dense branches forming a natural wall. It was more expansive than I had imagined, with patches of flowers and patches of soft grass swaying gently in the breeze.
Our instructor raised his right hand, revealing the intricate mark etched onto his palm. Its lines were odd and winding, swirling together in a light brown hue. The symbol almost shimmered in the sunlight, making it seem alive.
"This is my mark," he said, adjusting his glasses. "As you can see, everyone's mark is different. It's incredibly rare for someone to have a specific shape, like thunder or any other distinct symbol. Some marks might fade or dull if mana is low, but if you have strong enough mana, the colors become more vivid."
He paused, surveying the curious faces in front of him. "Now, let's get started. First, you," he pointed at a boy with messy brown hair. The boy flinched slightly before stepping forward. Our teacher gently took his hand and turned his palm upward.
"As you can see, his mark is light yellow," the teacher noted. "Now, repeat after me: 'As the user of element, I command to activate the magic of mine!' and focus on channeling your mana." He released the boy's hand, stepping back to observe.
The boy swallowed nervously, his hands trembling slightly. "<As the user of element, I command to activate the magic of mine!>" he declared with surprising confidence. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, droplets of water formed in the air above his palm, swirling into a delicate stream before splashing onto the ground like a tiny waterfall.
The children erupted into cheers and clapped enthusiastically. "Good job! Looks like your element is Water! It's quite common, but with enough training, you could turn this whole field into a lake," the teacher praised. The boy beamed with pride, his cheeks flushed with excitement.
"Alright everyone, line up and face the field," the teacher instructed. The children hurriedly shuffled into neat rows, palms held out eagerly.
"Let's try it, Lady Martina!" Shikari tugged on my arm, pulling me toward an open space on the field. Her emerald eyes sparkled with anticipation. I chuckled at her eagerness and nodded.
"You go first," I said, giving her a light boop on the nose. She blinked in surprise before blushing faintly. With a firm nod, she raised her palm, her mark shimmering in a green hue. It was oddly shaped, like a bird's wings intertwined with vines.
Shikari inhaled deeply, steadying her breath. "<As the user of element, I command to activate the magic of mine!>" she announced firmly. Her hand trembled slightly, and then the ground beneath us shivered in response.
"An earthquake?" some students murmured nervously. The teacher's eyebrows raised in surprise before he hurried over to her.
"It won't work if you point like that," he said gently, adjusting her hand's position. As he did, the shaking grew stronger, and I watched in awe as thick, twisted roots began to break through the soil, snaking upward majestically.
"Oh! Your magic is Flora! That's a rare one!" the teacher exclaimed with pride, clapping his hands. Shikari's eyes sparkled with joy as she gazed at the vibrant roots she had summoned.
"That's amazing, Shikari!" I cheered. Her cheeks flushed pink as she smiled back at me.
"Your turn, Lady Martina!" she squealed with excitement, practically bouncing on her heels. Her enthusiasm was infectious, I couldn't help but smile back.
I raised my hand, taking a deep breath. "Alright... let's see what happens."
"<As the user of element, I command to activate the magic of mine!>" I spoke with determination, focusing intently on my mark. My hand grew warm, and a faint breeze swirled around my fingers.
Before I could fully realize what was happening, a familiar voice shouted, "Hey, sis!" My concentration broke, and I snapped my head toward the sound. My fiancé, Takashi, was jogging up to us, waving enthusiastically.
"GET AWAY FROM—" I started to yell, only to falter. What was his name again? Oh, right! "Takashi!"
It was too late. My outstretched hand was still focused, and before I could pull back, Takashi suddenly lifted off the ground, floating a few feet in the air, legs dangling helplessly. His eyes went wide with shock.
"Whoa, what just happened?" he exclaimed, flailing slightly. He looked more confused than afraid.
Our teacher approached, arms folded with a smirk. "Ehem, please be more careful, Takashi," he said, lowering him gently back to the ground with a subtle gesture. Shikari rushed over, fussing over her brother.
"Gravity magic, huh?" I murmured under my breath, eyeing the faint, shimmering mark on my hand. It seemed more vivid now, its colors sharper and more pronounced.
"That was incredible, Lady Martina! I've never seen anything like it!" Shikari chirped, clutching my arm excitedly.
Our teacher approached with a nod of approval. "Seems like your element is Wind—a rare one indeed. Though it sounds simple, mastering it can make you one of the most powerful mages around."
I nodded, still staring at my hand in awe. The mark glowed faintly, pulsating with energy.
RINGGGGG!
The school bell shattered the moment, its sharp ring signaling the end of our session. "Alright, kids! That's it for today. Lunchtime!" the teacher called out. The children erupted into laughter and chatter, racing back toward the academy halls.
I exchanged a glance with Shikari, who was still buzzing with excitement. "That was amazing!" she gushed, grabbing my hand. "Let's get something to eat!"
I smiled, nodding as I followed her back to the main hall. I couldn't help but feel the flicker of excitement in my chest. Wind magic...I wonder what else I could do.
