I took deep breaths, each one chilling my skin. Why did I feel so cold?

I stood up and walked to the window, pushing it open to let the wind brush against my face. The sunlight was gentle, almost comforting. I enjoyed it.

Crack.

The sound of a branch snapping caught my attention. Huh? I squinted, spotting someone fleeing in the distance. A burglar? I hope they didn't steal anything from my room.

...

I sprinted, sliding across the grass until I was hidden behind the bushes. My hand covered my mouth as I panted heavily.

Who was that woman? I peeked out, watching her expression shift to confusion as she stared back at the tree where she had been moments ago. She's... cute. Perfect, with her blonde hair, adorable face, and ocean-blue eyes.

Is this what people mean by 'love at first sight'? But... she's a girl. And so am I. Isn’t this too fast? Who cares? All I want is for her to like me too! But first, I have to get to know her. Finally, after so many years, I found the right one.

I carefully climbed back up the tree and peered into her dorm window. She certainly has good taste. I saw her sitting in a corner... crying? Why is she crying? She looked even cuter. I wonder how her face would look twisted in pain. Maybe I should play with her a little.

...

I wondered what they were doing... probably gossiping about me... Ugh, I need to get these thoughts out of my head. I took deeper breaths. My head throbbed, dizziness overtaking me... Ugh... I collapsed onto the ground, chest first. My body suddenly felt incredibly hot. Why was this happening? I was freezing earlier... Ugh... I felt like I wanted to puke... Was this a low-mana effect?

A loud knock on my dorm door woke me up. It kept repeating until I finally heard her voice.

"Lady Martina!" Shikari called out. I desperately wanted to open the door, but I couldn’t. Everything hurt. My body grew heavier as I crawled to the doorknob, stumbling along the way. This is strange. There seemed to be a sudden force... Magic? Gravity magic? But who...

She started banging violently on the door. What is she doing?... I’m the villainess... you shouldn’t help me... you just want to talk down to me. Go away...

Creak.

I heard the door violently yanked aside. I looked up to see roots wrapped around it, splitting it apart. She shouted spells, and then—

Thud!

She stood there, panting and looking anxious as the door was torn off its hinges. She entered, halting as she caught a whiff of something.

"Ugh, what is that smell..." she muttered before noticing me. She hurried over and tried to help me stand. I can't... hold it anymore—

Blurgh...

I threw up on the ground. My body burned, and I felt so dizzy and nauseous. She carefully lowered me back down, startled by what had happened.

"Lady Martina? Lady Martina! Can you hear me?!" She shook me, clearly shocked by my temperature as she cupped my cheek.

"Oh my god! Do you have a fever?!" she asked, her face full of concern. She tore off a piece of her clothing and gently wiped my lips. She looked at me, anxiety written all over her face.

"Are you okay, Lady Martina?" she asked again. I smacked her hand away and moved farther back.

"Stop mocking me!" I snapped. She recoiled, startled, but stepped forward again.
