1. November 1991, Jon's parents house in New Jersey
John Sr.'s POV
It was around eight in the morning as our phone rang. As always I got my hopes up that it might be Jon because since the pregnancy accident we lost every bit of contact to him. But like so often my hopes got disappointed.
But nevertheless my heart began to beat faster as I heard who was on the other side. "Sandy Callister, New Jersey state police department here. May I have your attention please for a minute?"
I had no idea what she wanted from me, but police never had to mean a good thing, right? I remember Jonny almost ending up in jail two times for doing stupid little things that teenagers just do. And then during the whole Alec accident, it had seemed like they suddenly never even cared for him. So what did they want now?
"You must be John Bongiovi senior then? We had hoped that you could give us a way to contact your son Mr. Jon Bon Jovi. It is of a great importance for us to talk to him." I had no idea what they wanted from Jonny. Had he committed a crime now? I kinda was scared. And why did they call me? Didn't the police have its certain methods to find the people they were searching for? At least they should have.
But now they got me curious. Maybe it was still better to know what's going on and if I had to warn Jon or something. Even though I had to tell them that I didn't know either where he was which wouldn't be any help.
"As you may have noticed the department responsible for the case of Alec John Such hasn't put much effort in their research. They said it was a crazy individual, not a rarity these days and impossible to identify. But we now want to dig a bit deeper. I think it's in all of our interests to find the murderer.
And for that we wanted to ask your son for help. As you may know there were video cameras allowed at the concert. So there is a lot of footage. Some of it could be useful to find any hints and to even identify the person responsible for the accident.
But people won't bring out their cameras to us. They see no need to show us their private recordings. And the names of the visitors who were at the concert that day haven't been registered. So we need to get Jon in front of camera, he has to bring his fans so far that they deliver their footage to us.
If we can manage that, it will help us all. Otherwise there won't be much we can do, too much time has passed since it happened."
Well, what could I do now? I was happy that someone was finally willing to help us and their reasons seemed believable. But this didn't change the fact that no one knew where to reach Jon.
1. November 1991, Texas USA
Jon's POV
Visiting Texas had been a very healing experience to me. There was just so much to discover and people had forgotten who I am here. I had forgotten it myself. Maybe because I was not the person I used to be anymore.
To quote myself, I didn't know where I was going, only god knows where I've been. Both physically and mentally. But right now I was here, somewhere in an old Texas oil town, and I decided to don't care about anything but the moment now, I had no destination and I was happy with that.
But what did surprise me was the condition of this town. I was not the best when it comes to geography but I knew that some time ago this county here was very well-known for its big oil deposits. And with that richness and glamour.
