hey! it's me, Arii, and welcome to another one-shot! How are you all doing? Hope you're doing well, and if not, I hope you feel better soon! This one is going to be a Josuke x Reader; he kinda forgot your birthday, and you got really sad because of it. If your birthday is today, happy birthday! If not, pretend it is! "Happy birthday, Y/N!" Your mom squeals happily, bringing a slice of vanilla cake to your room and whipping open the curtains in your room. "Thanks, Mom." You laugh sleepily, stretching as your mom lights the candle on the slice and sings "Happy Birthday" to you. "I have some presents for you to open! Remember to remind your boyfriend about tonight's dinner!" Your mom smiles and closes the door as you stretch and take a bite of your cake. "Mmmmm...." You hum, and open your dresser, picking your school uniform out of the closet.

"Your boyfriend's at the door, Y/N." Your mom comes into your room, smiling. Your lips break into a smile, and you grab your school bag and books, sprinting downstairs. "Bye, Mom! See you later!" You smile, and grab a piece of toast from the countertop, swinging the door open and closing it behind you. Josuke stands there, smiling at you as you walk down your front door steps and running into his arms. "Hey, baby." He smiles, and you laugh, blushing. "Hi, Josuke." You say shyly, and he laughs, grabbing your hand.

"How are you doing today?" He asks, and you smile, telling him about everything that happened with you the past few days you haven't seen each other. You kept waiting for Josuke to wish you a happy birthday, pull a present out of his back pocket, and sing you happy birthday, but he never does. "Josuke, are you forgetting anything?" You ask him concerned, and Josuke stares into space, clearly not paying attention to anything you're saying. "Josuke!" You yell again, and he snaps back into reality, laughing awkwardly and rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.

"Uhhh....no?" He replies, and your heart breaks a bit. "OH! I remember now!" Josuke's blue eyes light up, and you smile, blushing. "We have a test in math today, don't we? Shit, I forgot all about that! Thanks baby!" He smiles and gives you a peck on the cheek. Your face falls, but you try not to show him, and laugh anyways. "Josuke, I told you not to forget about that; it counts for half of your grade!" You say, and Josuke blushes, rolling his eyes. "Okuyasu and I were playing Uno yesterday, and we were supposed to study, but we totally forgot about that." Josuke explains, and you smile, even though you're very upset.

"Are you sure you didn't forget anything else?" You ask him again, latching onto his arm as you enter the school grounds. "Well, yeah, baby. I don't think there's anything else----Oh! Wait just a second!" He says, surprised, and you smile. He remembers! "The science project starts tomorrow! We're still on for being partners, yeah?" He asks, and your heart drops, disappointed. "..........Yeah." You smile weakly, and Josuke stares at you, his lips curling into a frown. "Is something wrong, Y/N?" He asks, and you shake your head, smiling. "N-Nothing's wrong!" You smile, and place your hand on Josuke's.

"Alright then. I better get to class before Okuyasu and Koichi start freaking the hell out. See you at lunch, okay, baby?" Josuke smiles, and you nod, waving at him as he sprints to his class. Did he actually forget about my birthday? I've been talking about it for the past three weeks. There's no way he actually forgot............right? You shake your head in disbelief as you walk to your class, tears streaming down your face.

----josuke's pov-----

"Oi, Josuke!" Okuyasu waves me over, and I smirk, sprinting to him and Koichi; Koichi currently rambling about Yukako.

"Hey. What are you two doing?" I ask, and Koichi stops, staring at me with his blue eyes. "Well, we were planning to surprise Y/N for her birthday, but Okuyasu got side-tracked, and then I went off on a tangent about Yukako---" Koichi tries to explain, but I cut him off, yelling.

"Y/N'S BIRTHDAY?!" I squeal, and Okuyasu and Koichi stare at me before freaking out with me.

"She's your girlfriend, dude!!! You totally forgot about her!" Okuyasu yells, and I start to panic, my hair frizzing up because I'm so angry with myself.

I knew something was wrong! That's why Y/N kept asking me if I was forgetting something. She's been talking about it for weeks now, and I even remember looking for gifts for her! I'm such an idiot! That's probably why Y/N was sad when I said I wasn't forgetting anything; it's her birthday today, dammit, and I totally forgot about it!

"Josuke-kun, you should probably go and apologize to her. Y/N's probably really upset." Koichi frowns, and I nod, leaving my school bags and sprinting to the courtyard.

Sighing, you wipe tears from your eyes, and open your lunchbox, staring at the birthday lunch your mom packed you. Everyone in the school wished you a "Happy Birthday", and gave you gifts, cards, money, hugs, and other things. You are grateful for them all, and you smiled and thanked each one of them, but you're still missing someone's love and affection. Josuke Higashikata.

Your delinquent boyfriend who wouldn't hurt a fly, except if it insulted his hairstyle, and a really sweet guy at heart, who's just a bit air-headed at times.

Trying to force the thoughts out of your head so you don't burst out into tears, you take a bite of your apple and stare the yellow sky of Morioh.

Just then, you hear panting from behind you, and you turn around; Josuke slows down, and walks towards you. His hair's in a frizzy mess, and his blue eyes are staring at the ground while he catches his breath before staring at you.

"Baby! I'm so, so sorry! I forgot all about your birthday!!" Josuke frowns, and sits down beside you on the grass, grabbing your hand.

"Ah, it's fine, JoJo." You smile, but Josuke doesn't, taking his hands and putting them on your face.

"No, it's not. I should've been a better boyfriend, and actually payed attention to you." Josuke sighs, and leans his head on your shoulder.

Smiling, you tear up again, and kiss his cheek, handing him an apple slice. "Don't worry about it, Josuke. I forgive you." You smile, and Josuke breathes a sigh of relief, taking a bite of the apple slice. "What do you wanna do for your birthday, hun?" Josuke smirks, and you tell him about your plans for your birthday dinner. "When's that? I'll write it down so I don't forget this time." Josuke smiles, and you tell him the time.

"Hmm.....okay! Do you wanna go to the mall with Okuyasu, Koichi, and I? We'll buy anything you want." Josuke smiles so wide, his eyes almost close. "Haha! Okay! You don't have to buy me anything, though." You blush, and Josuke waves you off, smirking. "Trust me, I will." Josuke blushes, and you lean your head on his shoulder, kissing his hand.

"I love you." You whisper to the pompadour-headed delinquent, and he laughs, the voice rumbling in his chest.

"I love you, too, baby." He smiles.
