AFTER BREAKFAST the following day the second year's had transfiguration with Professor McGonagall. The class was filled with animals and Hope assumed that it had something to do with what they were learning, she took her seat beside Hermione opening her book and looking at Roger sitting at her desk. 

Any students that had their own pet had to bring it, meaning Hope and Ron brought their pets However, Hope didn't feel very comfortable turning her beloved cat into a goblet and by the annoyed look on the cat's face, he didn't like the idea either.   

"Today, we will be turning animals into water goblets" Professor McGonagall said rising from behind her desk and walking around to the black and white bird perched in front of it, McGonagall counted to three and taped her wand on the bird, 

"Vera Verto"  the bird transformed into a glass goblet and the class let out gasps

"Now it's your turn Who would like to go first?" she asked walking down to the class stopping right in front of Ron, "Mr Weasley One, two, three, Vera Verto" McGonagall instructed

Ron Gulped and looked down at Scabbers who was sitting on a pile of books on his desk He cleared his throat before tapping his wand at Scabbers,

"Vera Verto" Ron said but because of his broken wand Scabbers half transformed leaving the goblet, furry and with a tale — which looked rather disgusting. The class laughed at Him and McGonagall told him to replace his wand. Hermione's hand shot up from beside Hope,

"Professor, I was wondering if you could tell us about the chamber of secrets" Hope's eyes widened it was a bold question for Hermione to ask, McGonagall sighed

"Very well" McGonagall said and she began to explain all about the chamber,

"Well, you all know, of course, that Hogwarts was founded over a thousand years ago by the four greatest witches and wizards of the age Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin" She explained walking around the classroom, 

"Now three of the founders coexisted quite harmoniously, One did not" She said

"three guess who" Ron said to Harry 

"Salazar Slytherin wished to be more selective about the students admitted to Hogwarts He believed magical learning should be kept within all-magic families In other words, pure-bloods" Draco sent Hermione a glare making her look away,

McGonagall explained how Salazar Slytherin wanted to be more selective about who they let into the school — which basically just meant purebloods. Salazar Slytherin ended up leaving Hogwarts but before he left he apparently built the chamber of secrets beneath the school waiting for the one true heir of Slytherin to return to Hogwarts to rid the school of all Muggleborns. 

"Naturally the school has been searched many times, No such Chamber has been found" McGonagall said walking back to her desk

"what's in the chamber professor?" Hope asked her

"Well, the Chamber is said to be home to something that only the Heir of Slytherin can control It is said to be the home of a monster" Mcgonagall explained and Hope felt Hermione tense up beside her while Draco sat with a smug smile.
