BEING BACK FOR THE SUMMER WAS ODD. After returning home from Hogwarts, Sirius was in fact there greeting Hope with open arms however it was slightly strange. Of course, Hope was happy for him to be out of Azkaban and finally home but having it be just her and Remus for so long it was odd having another person there.
She knew Sirius was struggling. If there was one thing Hope was good at it was observing and reading people. The way he would jump if he heard a loud noise or even the times she would hear him wake up in the middle of the night and pace around downstairs.
Hope would sometimes go downstairs and join him she would make them both tea and they would just sit, she would ask what was wrong but Sirius would shrug it off saying he was fine. Hope knew it was most likely nightmares that were keeping him awake so she would try and distract him best of her abilities, Sirius never said it out loud but he appreciated it.
The atmosphere in the house was off as well there was so much to say between Remus and Sirius just neither of them wanted to be the one to initiate the conversation.
Hope had been home for only two weeks when she was awoken by the shouts coming from downstairs—the only disadvantage of living in a cottage was the extremely thin walls.
Being the nosy person she is, Hope got out of bed and crept out of her room. She tiptoed down a few of the stairs before sitting down and leaning her head against the wall peering out through the gaps in the bannister.
Hope listened in as they 'spoke' but it wasn't very much speaking. Remus shouted throwing his hands up, Hope slouched down against the wall. She understood both parts Remus felt betrayed, Sirius was angry that Remus didn't fight more to prove his innocence, they both deserved to be angry.
Sirius let out a sob sitting down on the couch, resting his head in his hands and that's when the screams turned to whispers. Remus looked at him before sitting next to him on the couch and wrapping his arms around him, Sirius sobbed onto Remus' shoulder and Remus cried on his.
Hope smiled watching them wiping away the tears on her face. for the first time since Sirius arrived home it felt right. Everything felt right. Hope fell asleep that night with a smile on her face knowing things would start to look up from there.

Halfway through Summer Hope sat in the armchair in the corner of the living room, her legs were thrown over one arm of the chair and her head was resting on the other Roger was asleep on her stomach and of course, she had a book in her hand.
"What are you reading?" Sirius asked sitting down on the couch across from her his arm resting on the back of the couch behind Remus who was reading a copy of the daily prophet,
Hope turned to book so Sirius could see the front cover
"Interview with the vampire. Hermione sent it with her last letter" Hope said going back to reading
"It's funny, muggles write about vampires and they're actually real they just have no idea" Sirius said resting his head on the back of the couch
Hope nodded not looking up from her book,
Sirius gave a loud obnoxious sigh, hitting his head on the couch cushion as he did so
