Chapter 1

The boat rocked back and forth gently. I sat against the side of the boat with my legs up to my chest and my hood over my head.

"We're here." Someone said to me.

I stood up and readjusted my mask as I saw the island come into view. After reaching the dock I climbed off of the boat then up onto a large wall.

I looked out at the vast landscape, I knew somewhere in the distance lay my destination.

I turned around and looked at the man who was on the boat with me.

"Remember, someone will always be at this dock when you need to report something. If anything happens come here." The man said passing me a knife.

I nodded and turned back to the edge of the wall before jumping off it. During the fall to the ground, I glided the knife over my hand producing a small cut.

There was a flash of lightning before I landed on the floor. I straightened myself and began walking.

My name is Ash Pearl, and I'm a Marlian Warrior. I've come to Paradis to locate the founding titan from the royal family and capture it.

After days of walking in my titan form, I finally reached a wall, not like the one from before, a different one.

I pulled my body out of my titan and walked towards a gate. As I neared it I noticed that nobody would see me, so I started shouting hoping that someone inside would hear me.

"Hello?! Is anyone there?!" I shouted.

There was no answer for a few minutes, so I kept shouting. Eventually the gate opened and a man peeked out.

"How'd you get out there..?" He muttered.

"I don't know.." I muttered forcing myself to cry, "Help me."

The man took me into the walls, I had successfully infiltrated wall Maria but what now?

"What's your name?" The man asked.

"Ash."

"I'll ask you again, how'd you get out there?"

"I don't know. I don't know anything. I don't know where I am or what I was doing before this." I sobbed, "all I know is that I'm Ash and I'm 12 years old, nothing else!"

"Okay, okay calm down." The man said, "you're in Shiganshina district, Wall Maria."

"Can you explain everything to me? What were those giant people things outside?"

The man went on to explain everything, he explained what titans were, what the walls do and all about the military.

"So your a member of the garrison?" I asked pointing at his badge.

"Mhm, the Garrison maintain the walls, Military Police serve the king and the Scouts venture outside the walls."

"Why would they do that?" I asked.

"They're in search for freedom, every one of them are fools but they have a good cause."

"Thank you for explaining mister." I said smiling.

"Alright, now let's get you-"

I ran away before he could finish his sentence. I know he was about to help me find a place to live but I couldn't risk having them around.

Titan shifters have special abilities unique to each one, my titan, The Moon titan can heal others only in direct moonlight and erase memory.

There is a drawback to erasing memory, it is that I can only erase myself from memory and nothing else. There is however another problem, I've not been able to do it yet.
