Ash comes from Marley, a country far away from Paradis.
Initially he was there to destroy humanity, but when a short ravenette came into his life it changed his perspective.

"Ash I want you in the carriage with those three." Erwin said.
"What?! Why me?!" I protested.
"If me or Mike got in I'm afraid it would be a tight squeeze." Erwin said throwing me a towel, "and I saw you staring."
"Okay, 1 you just indirectly called yourself and Mike fat. 2, why do I need to be there? 3, what's with the towel? And 4, no." I said.
"1, no I didn't, your just small. 2, safety protocols. 3, he still has sewage on him and 4, yes you were."
I rolled my eyes not wanting to talk to him anymore and got into the carriage not wanting to talk to him anymore.
I sat down on the seat beside Levi. As soon as the door closed it got awkward.
"Uhm, hi?" I said awkwardly, "I'm Ash.. and.. I've been put in here so you're stuck with me."
They all just looked at me silently.
"We're going to be in here for a day and a half.." I continued, "I'd rather it not be awkward.."
Still they just looked at me.
I just sighed and turned to Levi before drying his hair with the towel.
During the journey to HQ I learnt that the tall blonde man was called Furlan, and the girl with pigtails was called Isabel.
"Hey ash what's that?" Isabel asked looking out of a window.
"... a tree?"
"No that!"
I looked out of the window, there was nothing there.
"What?" I asked.
"That!"
"There's nothing there."
"That!"
I just stared out of the window then turned back to her, "explain what you're on about."
"That brown and green thing with leaves on the top."
I looked out of the window again, "...that's a tree."
"Oh. I thought that was called grass."
"The green stuff on the floor is grass.."
"Oh.."
"Isabel you dumbass." Furlan said kicking her leg.
I turned back from the window to find Levi glaring at me.
"Damn your scary.." I muttered pulling the towel down from his head to cover his face.
I quickly realized that that wasn't the best thing to do but I didn't have the confidence to take it off again.
I reached my hand out then retracted it at least 7 times. I took a deep breath before taking the towel off and putting it down on the seat.
He just looked at me blankly. I turned away from him and sat in my seat awkwardly. After a few hours I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew I was rudely awoken by the carriage hitting a rock.
