Chapter 51

When I woke up I found that the storm had passed and it was dark out. I let go of Levi then using my odm gear I climbed up to the top of the trees.

I looked up to see it was nighttime, but it was cloudy and I couldn't heal him. I was sat up there for hours looking for a gap in the clouds.

"Ash?" Levi called from below me.

As I began descending from the tree tops, his calls for me began getting more frantic.

"Ash?!" He yelled desperately.

"I'm here, I'm here." I said landing on the ground and tackling him in a hug.

He groaned at the sudden movement then wrapped his arms around me.

"I thought you left." He muttered.

"Why would I leave?"

"Because I'm injured."

"Why would I leave you for that?"

"Well.. because I can't protect you."

"I don't need your protection, it's my turn to protect you." I said hugging him tightly.

He sighed, "Why were you up there?"

"It's nighttime but it's cloudy so I can't heal you. I was waiting for a gap in the clouds where  I could reach the moonlight."

"You can't heal me?"

"No we'll have to wait until tomorrow night. Should we start heading back? I can carry you on my titan."

"Which way is back though?"

"I don't know, but we need to do something." I muttered.

He nodded, "Let's go then."

I packed the blanket up in the bag.

"Wait how long has it been since you last ate?"

"Uhm... a day?"

I took out a cracker and a bottle of water from my bag and gave them to him.

"What about you?"

"I've eaten today, you haven't."

He glared at me before taking my mask off, snapping the cracker in half and shoving it in my mouth.

I took a bite then pulled the rest out before Levi shoved the water bottle into my mouth and made me take a sip.

I knew I couldn't fight with him so I began eating. When we were done I put my mask back on and put the bottle back in my bag.

I gave Levi my cape to wear since he had lost his. He put his hand over my shoulder and I put my hand on his side to help support him.

He was hopping on his good leg, but I could tell every hop jolted and hurt his broken leg. Soon enough we reached the edge of the forest where I had come from.

"It's pitch black." Levi muttered, "How are you supposed to know where you're going?"

"I can see in the dark dumbass."

I sat him down on the ground then walked away from him to transform. When I was far enough away I cut my finger and transformed.

I picked Levi up and held him gently in my arms as I began walking. I walked towards where the bloody field was, then in the direction I'm pretty sure I came from.

Every couple minutes I would look down at Levi to make sure he was alright. Soon the sun began rising in the distance. I looked to see the forest of big trees
