Chapter 50

We went to the gate of Trost then rode into Wall Maria. I had the map with the rout drawn out in red.

I noticed a titan ahead of us, we couldn't afford any detours. I jumped off my horse then transformed as there were no trees to hook onto.

I walked towards the titan and easily ripped its nape out using my long nails. I looked around and there seemed to be no more close by, so I pulled myself from my titan and got back onto my horse.

I adjusted my mask and looked around. Still no sign of Levi.

It was beginning to get dark and we were all tired. We set up in the middle of the field and tied our horses down.

"We set off before dawn." I said before laying down a mat and blanket.

I laid down a decent way away from the other people, I wanted time to myself. I was laid for about an hour or so trying to get to sleep, I opened my eyes and looked over at the other people.

All three of them were sat up and looking around scared out of their minds. I sat up and looked at them strangely, one of them jumped as I did so.

"What are you all so scared for?" I asked.

"Titans! We have every right to be scared of them. We aren't veterans like you!" One of them said.

"Titans can't move at night, they need sunlight to turn into energy."

The moment those words left my mouth two of them seemed to calm down a little.

"Did you not know that?" I asked.

"Well if they can't move at night how are you able to!" The third one said.

"I'm a titan shifter, not a pure titan." I said glaring at them, "And my titan is the Moon titan, it's literally in the name."

They all stayed sat up.

"I'm going back to bed." I muttered laying down facing away from them, honestly I didn't care if they got any sleep or not.

The next morning I kicked everyone awake before dawn. We all then packed our shit away and got onto our horses.

I was looking around the whole day for any signs of Levi but found none. I was so preoccupied looking one way that I didn't notice the titans coming for us from the other.

"Titans!" One of the people yelled.

I turned around and saw the titan just in time to hook onto a nearby tree. It was only one small one, so I couldn't use it to fight.

The 3 people with me had been massacred, 1 was stood on, and the other 2 were eaten. I was surprised 1 titan was able to do all that in such a short time, and the soldiers weren't able to kill it.

I grappled onto it and sliced the titans nape. I went down and stood over the person that had been crushed and looked at her.

"How did you survive the first time?" I muttered.

She started crying, I didn't really know what to do.

"We ran! All three of us are cowards!" She yelled.

"I should've known.. that's why it looked like you were all pissing your pants the whole time." I said pointing my sword at her, "All your bones are broken and I can't save you, so I'll kill you. Close your eyes."

She looked at me terrified before I sliced her neck to put her out of her misery. I looked to see my horse was dead and the rest were also dead or ran away.

I picked up my bag off the horse then slung it over my shoulder. It contained some medical supplies, food and water. My blanket was soaked in my horse's blood so I took the blanket from another dead horse that hadn't bled too much yet.
