Chapter 56

Once Eren had come out of the courthouse Levi introduced him to each of us.

"This is Petra, Eld, Gunther, Oluo and Ash you already know." He said pointing to each one of us, "they already know you name so get on a horse and let's go."

I watched as they got on their horses and we began our ride to the hq.

On our way there, Oluo began spouting about the castle. We had to move from Hq to a castle as there were no places to safely house Eren.

"An architectural marvel don't you agree? A proper royal residence once upon a time and more recently, our former headquarters." Oluo said to Eren, "Fancy yes but absurdly impractical once the scouts got down to business, much much was too far from river or wall."

I was beginning to get a headache from all the talking he was doing.

"This was the early days for us you understand, held sword high. Now this place is little more but a holding cell, a place where we store our newest toy."

I watched as Eren turned around to be met by a glare from Levi. He immediately turned back around.

As Oluo leaned closer to Eren and began talking again I turned to Levi.

"Levi if you keep scowling at him he's going to be scared the whole time here." I said turning to him.

"That's not my problem."

"Be nice." I said hitting him over the back of the head to be met by a glare back.

I sighed as I heard Oluo bite his tongue.

I looked down at Omelette sat on my horse in front of me. He looked up at me and meowed, I meowed back and watched as it looked at me shocked.

"Levi I think I said something offensive to the cat.." I said.

"What?"

I picked Omelette up and showed him.

"Apologize to him then." He said.

"I'm sorry Omelette.." I said turning him around and looking at him.

"That's what you get for flapping your joules on horseback." Petra said as Oluo held a cloth to his tongue.

"The rookie needed to know his place. First impressions are important."

"You certainly made an impression on him, no question there."

"Indeed so, our exchange went exactly as planned..."

"What um.. what happened to you? You never used to talk like this." Petra said, "I mean.. it's really none of my business but if your trying to act like the Captain it's kind of embarrassing. You and Levi couldn't be less alike if you'd be born separate species."

"If you intent to hound me like a wife Petra dear, then theres rather more of me you need to be acquainted with before you lay to the privilege." Oluo said.

"Ha, you wish. I'd tell you to bite your tongue but you've already got that covered, next time I hope you bleed out."

"Oh-ho-ho me thinks the lady does protest too much."

"You disgusting swine."

I gagged after hearing the whole thing. I turned around and put my horse in the stables.

"Look at these weeds." Eld said approaching the entrance, "this place has gone to hell."

"It's been abandoned for years, I bet the insides in shambles." Gunther replied.
