Goodbye

Luna's Struggle

2976 words.

Today is the ceremony day.

Killua moved around in his bedroom sprawled amongst his clothes that littered his bed and the ground. Alluka sat cross-legged on the bed and stared silently at her brother.

Killua is so attached to his clothes. He never keeps clothes he doesn't wear anymore, so looking at him choosing between his most important clothes is weird.

She doesn't understand why Killua has to take only part of his clothes. Moreover, Killua is having a tough time choosing what to take and what to keep.

"Are you really moving out?" Alluka mumbled and stared at another piece of clothes disappearing inside Killua's duffel bag.

"Yes, Luka. Gon and I will move in together."

"Why all of a sudden? This is so sudden. You didn't even finish school yet." She mumbled, staring angrily at the duffel bag at the end of the bed. "You didn't even tell me about it prior. This is so irritating. I hate this. I despise Gon."

Killua fully ignored his sister's complaints and put a pair of white jeans inside the duffel bag before taking them out again, "Nah, better not take this one." He threw his white jeans on the bed while looking at them sadly, "I will miss you, dear." He wiped a fake tear and put on another pair of black ripped jeans.

"Why not take it? You took blue and black jeans but not white?"

"I wish, but it is already winter and white gets dirty fast in summer." Alluka shrugged and only glared whenever Killua looked at her.

He didn't object because he knows how much Alluka is upset right now.

"Ok, what else? I packed all the good clothes, my books, my journals and novels, and school stuff… I also packed some photos of us, my self-care products, hmmm…" Killua mumbled and stared all around his bedroom.

Gon took his favorite plushies back with him last night, so Killua wouldn't have to carry them out too. He packed his favorite blankets and gave them to Alpin too. "I think I'm done."

"Really?" Sarcastically, Alluka said. "You forgot one thing." He raised his eyebrow when he was met with her strict and hurt gaze, "You haven't packed me yet."

Killua rolled his eyes, "Luka…"

"You didn't even spend any time with me, saying goodbye or giving me a gift to remember you by."

"Luka, I'm not traveling. I'll be living ten minutes away from you." Killua continued, "I'll be visiting every day or whenever I can."

"Yeah, but can I?" She mumbled.

"What do you mean?" Slowly, Killua sat down next to his sister. He squeezed her knee and leaned forward to stare into her eyes. Her irritated question scared him.

"Don't think I don't know." She said, so Killua squinted. "I have eyes and ears. I'm not blind, nor am I deaf!" Her voice rang in his ears and his hand stung where she slapped it off her knee, "I know that something is going on that neither you, Mom, nor Dad is telling me. Am I even important?"

"Luka—"

"Am I a member of this family?"

"Of course, you are!"

"I doubt it!" She sniffed deeply and looked at him again, tears trapped in her eyes. "That night when Dad got angry. The sound of a punch hitting a wall and what? Look at that dent. How powerful Dad is out of my logic. And then Gon screaming that night like a maniac and showing up at our doorstep and waking the whole neighborhood."
