Chapter 57

Brielle's POV

I can't help but think that I made a bad decision. Me and Michael had arrived at the restaurant a few minutes ago and we are currently looking through the menu with an awkward silence floating in the air around us.

This silence has been like this since I got into his car, a part of me believes it's because he most likely saw Lorenzo and Leon leave the building together. I mean it would make sense considering he didn't knock too long after Lorenzo had left.

But I am trying to just put that thought in the back of my mind because that would just mean he will end up asking me about it, then we would go into a long conversation that we didn't need to have. Micheal is a great friend but I really don't want to bring him in with all of this Lorenzo stuff.

I finally decided to look up from my menu to see that Micheal was just blankly staring at his, but before I could say anything a waiter began to make his way to our table.

"Are you guys ready to order?" I ordered first and Micheal gave his order after. Once the waiter left I looked over at Micheal and smiled in which he returned with a chuckle.

"What's so funny?" He looked at me with a smile on his face before his demeanor changed to a nervous one.

"Nothing, I'm glad we went out together tonight, even if it is awkward." He looks at me with a sheepish smile which makes me feel horrible. I don't want him feeling as if I didn't want to be here right now.

"Micheal, it's not your fault I just had a lot that has been going on these past few days."

"Is it because Leon's dad is back in your life?" He asked but it came out more like a statement, he had no rudeness in his voice he just sounded genuinely curious.

"I'm sorry I know I probably should have canceled, I really don't want to lead you on Micheal It's just..."

"You still love him." I look at him to see that he had a knowing smile on his face.

"Listen Brie I should have canceled as well, I actually don't know why I asked I kinda have feelings for this one girl but she just doesn't seem to feel the same." My eyes widen at his words, I didn't know he had feelings for an other woman.

This is a pretty big deal for Micheal considering what he told me about his wife passing after Max was born. He had told me he hasn't felt anything for a woman after that.

"What, are you serious Micheal why didn't you tell me?" He looks away from me with flushed cheeks.

She must be special to him.

"What's her name?" He looks at me for a minute as if trying to see if he should tell me or not.

"Amelia." My jaw drops as I look at him looking for any lie in his words or his face.

"As in Leon and Max's daycare teacher." He looks away again with embarrassment. I never thought that their little glances towards each other were anything, but now it all makes sense.

"Micheal she is definitely into you."

"How do you know?"

"How don't you know." He looks at me with confusion written on his face as I begin to laugh a bit.

"It's clear by the way she looks at you, I at first didn't think much of it but now it all makes sense." Micheal looked away from me once again with his cheeks turning red.

"I'm happy for you Micheal." I really was I was happy that he has another chance at his happily ever after with a beautiful woman who cares so much about the kids she takes care of. There has been a few times where I either had to drop off or pick up Leon and I would sit there and have a conversation with her.

"Thanks Brie, and I'm happy that you finally have another chance with Leon's dad." He sent a smile my way but before I could reply our food had arrived. I didn't even know what to reply with, I mean I'm happy Leon has his dad in his life but I just don't know what's next. Does Lorenzo go back to New York and we stay here or do we move back out there.

I don't know what to do... Again.

Micheal just dropped me off back at my place but before I head up to the apartment I decide to go make conversation with Greg. I walk over to the front desk and I didn't see him which confuses me because he is always here.

I then made my way over to his office, I knocked twice but he didn't answer so I slowly opened the door and once I entered his office my heart dropped. Greg was unconscious on the floor, I run over to him and bend down to feel his pulse it was there but it was very faint.

"Shit." I pulled out my phone and quickly dialed 911, after I called the ambulance I then called Ana.

"Hey Brie how did..."

"Ana get down to the lobby it's Greg." I cut her off before she could finish her sentence, she then hung up and after a few minutes I heard the sirens from the ambulance so I made my way out of the office to see Ana. I told the paramedics where he was and after a few short seconds he was being carried out in a stretcher.

"We are taking him back to hospital it seems that he has suffered from a heart attack." I look over at Ana to see that she was biting her nails, something she does when she's nervous or in this case scared.

"Thank you, we will be there." As the ambulance pulled out of the parking lot me and Ana made our way to her car and followed behind them. The ride to the hospital was full of panic I didn't know what to do right now I know Greg doesn't have anyone for us to call and I only know that because he had told me and Ana that his wife died last year and they didn't have any kids together so he only had me, Ana and Leon.

Oh my god Leon.

This is going to hurt him, him and Greg have grown a bond that I couldn't even break and that is saying something because me and Leon are very close. He looks up to Greg like a grandfather and I know if Greg doesn't recover Leon will be devastated.

As we pull up to the hospital I pull out my phone before hovering over Lorenzo's contact.

"What are you doing?" Ana asked me as she looked over my shoulder to see Lorenzo's name on my phone.

"I was going to tell him to bring Leon, but I don't want to ruin their night." I would hate to ruin Lorenzo's first night with Leon, but I know Leon would want to be here for Greg.

"Let's just hold off until tomorrow to tell him, he might already be asleep and I don't think you would want Leon here to see this." She's right even though Leon would want to be here for Greg he is still so young and things like this might be too much for him.

"Okay." We exited the car before we made our way inside, we were going to make our way to the front desk but we were stopped by one of the guys from the ambulance.

"Where is he, is he okay?" Ana began throwing questions at the man but as soon as I saw his face I knew what he was going to say.

"I'm so sorry, but he didn't make it." My heart dropped and my eyes began to water.

He's gone.

I can't believe it, Greg was like my father he was the only parental figure I had in my life since Valentino and Isabella. As Ana turned to look at me she saw the tears that wanted to escape, she then made her way to me and pulled me into a hug before I broke down.

This world is so cruel and for what.
