Part Sixteen

Her knee felt better today.

She decided to go take a walk by the beach. At first it seemed like no one had noticed her leaving , so she felt somewhat free.

She left the breeze hit in her face and through her hair. She stepped into the water. In a trance she walked a bit deeper in then she should have.

Maybe she could keep going. Maybe drowning would be better then being held here in this beautiful place with a man she barely knew, but he seemed to know everything about her life.

It was truly unnerving.

But she could perhaps someday leave. Maybe he would tire of this game they were playing. Viraj Trehan could have any woman in his life. He didn't really want her now did he?

Yeah sure apparently she took a bullet for him, but made her do that?

She snapped out of her reverie to realize a high tide was headed her way and she may not make it back to shore in time.

She panicked thinking her life would just end here and now.

She would never get to see PG again, or say sorry to Sid, although she doesn't even know how she fell into Viraj's web of confusion.

She tumbled back on shore and someone was calling her name and pulling her towards dry land.

Then she felt warm lips on her face and firm pushing on her chest.

This had happened before.

This was not the first time she nearly drowned.

She had been nearly killed when the bullet had hit her and she nearly drowned in the pool that night.

Viraj had saved her that night.

She opened her eyes to see him again.

This time he looked just as harried if not worse then that night, everything had started to come back to her in bits and pieces.

He just let her go, but he was incapable since she had saved him yet again.

She had become his lifeline after all.

"Kavya you have to stop scaring me like this! You crazy girl, what if I actually lost you this time. What were you thinking?"

This was no illusion this time.

He had not created the scenario . She had gotten herself into trouble and he came anyway to save her yet again.

They were meant to pass paths .

Then she just knew.

He would get his wish from her side.

Good bye to planning anything in this life.

Viraj Trehan had changed all that.

He had been right that night about six weeks ago.

Her life was gonna change forever.

Sometime later , when she was wrapped in a warm robe and sipping a hot cup of tea, he sat down across from her.

He sighed with some relief.

"Mujhe sab yaad aagya," she admitted.

He looked at her to ascertain what this meant.

"If you are truly serious about keeping me with you, let's pick a wedding date. Also PG is my dad so he needs to be there for my kanyadaan," she insisted.

He smiled .

"I never intended to let you jaan," he declared.

"So if that is your way of agreeing to my demands, I guess I will put that engagement ring back on my finger," she said with glee.

Viraj smirked.

"I will do the honors," he said.

He returned shortly with a box and out came her ring and one for him.

"You can place a ring on me. I know have been difficult Kavya. This is my world, things aren't so simple here," he stated.

She merely nodded and placed the ring on his right ring finger.

He took her left hand and placed the ring on her finger.

They exchanged smiles, he picked her up his arms and whirled her around.

The End for now...
