(A/N: First of all, I apologise for some of my chapters being so long, I tend to get carried away.. Again, my apologise.. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!)
*Sophie's POV*
The sun shining through the thin net curtains of my new bedroom window burnt the exposed skin of my neck, face and chest, leaving my flesh warm and a very pale shade of pink. Even in the early hours of the morning the sun shone brightly, waking me up from a wonderful, long, deep, dreamless sleep, and that really bugged me. Even though I knew I couldn't sleep with the slightest smudge of light I still hadn't bought myself an eye-mask yet. Mental note: *buy and eye-mask*. I pried my eyelids open and slowly crawled out of bed, pulled my dressing gown on and walked downstairs towards the kitchen where my dorm mate was making herself a hot cup of cocoa.
"Good morning, Mayumi," I greeted, reaching up to get myself a mug from the cupboard and poured myself a mug of hot chocolate.
"Morning," she replied in her strong Japanese accent. Like me, May was a transfer who had moved to study in university. She had moved into our apartment a month before I had arrived and luckily for me, she spoke English extremely well, and she has been giving me Japanese lessons for the entire duration of my stay in our dorm.
I took a sip from my mug while May looked at the clock that was hanging about our stove. The looked at me with one eyebrow raised and said, "I thought you started university today."
I stared at the clock face and chocked on my drink, spraying the majority of it over the kitchen counters. It was 7:40 and I was due the my universities reception ten minutes ago to pick up my class schedule. I placed my cup on the counter and rushed up the stairs screaming, "I'm late, I'm late! I can't be late on my first day. Sophie you idiot!" I yelled at myself as I jogged about my room, routing through my mountain of clothes trying to find something decent and that would suit the fashion here in South Korea. I grabbed my bad and ran out if my room, jumping down five steps at a time. I called out, "I'll see you later," in Japanese and ran towards my car. Diving into the seat a started the engine and reversed off the drive.
"Good luck!" I heard May yell as she shut the front door. I started the short drive to my new Uni, I would have walked but I didn't have time today. Once I got to the car park, I placed my car in an empty space and rushed inside, putting together a conversation in my head. I could only speak the basics in Korean and considering I lived in Korea that wasn't very helpful. I was self-taught which meant I made many mistakes.
"Hello...I'm here to...to pick up my...sch...schedule," I said in korean, stuttering a fair bit.
The receptionist was around his mid 30's, the only thing giving his age away was the small wrinkles starting to form around his beautiful almond shaped eyes. "Ne ileum-enu mwan?" He asked in a deep voice.
I understood several of the words, such as 'what' and 'name'.
I immediately answered him, "Sophie Cross."
The receptionist, to my delight, began to speak English, and he only missed out one or two words. "Here's your timetable, each room has number, like said there," he pointed at the paper and I could see what he was explaining. Each class had a number listed next to it. "I'm afraid you have to attend three hour and a half English lessons," he apologised. "It's rules of university."
"Kamsahmnida," I thanked him and gave him a respectful bow. I looked down at my time table and thought, *okay, I have Travel now which is in room 206*. The university had signs hanging down from the ceiling pointing you in the direction of the classes. I followed them up two flights of stairs to the second floor, left the the top and the right down a long narrow corridor that had portraits of ex students hanging on the walls.
