Chapter 41: Nameless Newcomers

*Sophie's POV*

"Okay, seht... dhul... hana... GO!" I cheered and when the strong beat of the song we had decided to use as out debut kicked in, we charged forwards and hopped up into the air, tucking our legs up before landing back onto the studio floor with a bang. I stepped forward on my right leg and swung my left arm around my head in a circle. I then quickly  jerked onto my left leg so that one was now in front, and swung my right arm around above my head like I had just done with my left arm. Me and the girls were in a V shape with me as the tip. I fell to my knees after I had finished swinging my arm around, then Rose and SuMin fell down after me, and YoonMi and Grace followed, us dramatically crashing to the ground in cannon. 

The girls behind me spun around so we were in a circle with out backs facing each other and rolled down to lie flat on our fronts. We then quickly and perfectly performed the difficult scorpion dance back up onto our feet. With all our backs facing each other, we stepped out and stomped our right foot on the ground in unison. We then lifted our left knee upwards and tilted our toes out to the side, and knocked our forearm against our shin before slamming our foot onto the ground aggressively, the girls spinning around on the tips of their toes to face the way I was, Our feet parallel to each other but a hips distance apart. We strongly folded our arms across our chest and rolled our head across our shoulders and then let it hang lazily to the side. Intimidating stares set on our faces. 

The music started to drown out and as soon as it stopped, our stern glares changed into proud grins. We all jumped up into the air and hugged each other happily. 

"My knees are killing me," Rose complained, obviously talking about having to perform the scorpion dance move so many times in a row. "But it was totally worth it!" She held up her hand in the air and I slapped mine against hers, when they made contact we clasped each others hand and shook each others arm hyperactivity. Sometimes, the way Rose acted made me forget she was the second oldest in the group. 

SuMin squealed excitedly and started to bounce around like an over active chihuahua. "We are getting so good! I can't wait for our showcase!" 

"You should be excited," HeaWoo, our manager said as she walked into the dance studio, a huge grin spread across her lips. "And speaking of your showcase, I've got some news for you." 

We all moved to stand in a circle and then we dropped to the floor. All the others crossed their legs, except me and Rose, who sat down with our legs stretched out in front. A small thread of grey string was sticking out from the seam that ran down the side of my joggers.I started to twiddle with it, trying to grip it as close to the hem as I could, but whenever I tried to snap it off it just grew longer. 

Hissing under my breath I lifted my knee up and bent down. Biting it with my teeth I gnawed it off, smiling triumphantly to myself. Rose giggled at my side and shook her head at my huge grin. "The simplest things make you happy, don't they?" I just smiled cutely at her. There was something hidden behind her smile. Another emotion perhaps? Something she didn't want the rest of us to see. But what? I noticed that her smile seemed to be forced and when she smiled her eyes stayed still, her usual cheery eye smile disappearing.

I squinted at her and was just about to ask her what was wrong but before I could open my mouth, HeaWoo started to speak. "First of all, we hope to have you girls start to film your debut teasers from tomorrow afternoon, but before I explain that deeper, Lee SooMan approached me yesterday and has given me some news." She looked around the circle at all of us, to make sure we were concentrating on her, before she continued. "He told me that for your debut showcase you will have another group featuring with you.Some of you will sing with the members of this other group, some of you will dance, and some of you will be doing both." She looked at me and smiled. "Lee SooMan and I have had words and we have decided that you, Sophie, will be the lead dancer."
