"(Y/n)."

"Hm?" I looked up from the notebook I was writing in to see Kazuma standing there, which caused me to smile, "Heya Kaz. Need something?" I asked, putting the lid on my inkwell and the quill in its box before standing up so that I was at eye level with him and pecked his cheek, only to see a sombre look on his face. I knew the trial he'd been prosecuting had been hard for him linking back to the Professor killings, and his father and I knew he wanted the truth but still. He wasn't the same Kazuma I knew, "You okay? You're not yourself."

"(Y/n)," he spoke, placing a hand on my shoulder, "I need to talk to you about something. Something important that is going to change your life."

"Oh? Well on you go, Kazuma! Oh wait... please don't tell me...D-don't tell me you're-" I was unable to finish my sentence, having fallen to my knees on the floor. Kazuma immediately bent down and put a hand on my shoulder, "(Y/n)? What do you mean?"

I took a deep breath and swallowed, wiping my eyes, "A-are you breaking up with me?" The shock was visible on his face, "NO! I'm not, (Y/n). I love you so much. I'd never break up with you. What I need to tell you, i-it's about your brother."

"Huh? W-what happened?" I asked, my head shooting up, "Is Barok okay?"

"Yes, he's doing okay. I meant your other brother, Klint," Kazuma took a deep breath, "He was the one behind the Professor killings." I felt my heart shatter at that news, "W-what? Nonononono, you're making this up. This is a cruel joke, right Kaz?"

"I'm telling the truth, (Y/n). I-I just thought I'd tell you."

I tried to blink back the tears to avoid making a fool of myself in front of him but ultimately failed, resulting in me sobbing onto his shoulder. A few minutes later, once I'd calmed down, I took a deep breath, "To be honest, I had a feeling for a while that something was going on behind the scenes, as in that it wasn't your father that was behind all those murders, b-but, it's just now, this is just that n-now my dreams a-are all s-shattered. I'm never going to be allowed into law school now w-with this. I'm never going to be a defence attorney. I-it's been my dream since I-I was a child, K-Kazuma a-and, now that dream has disintegrated into thin air and... I'm sorry you have to see me like this, Kazuma."

"(Y/n), look at me."

I did so and saw his face giving me a sympathetic look, "(Y/n), I don't care whether you're like this. I mean that in the sense, is that you can cry in front of me and I won't judge you for it. I love you, and will forever, through better or worse," he gave me a small smile and kissed away all my tears, "No matter what."

I sniffed and giggled, a small smile making its way onto my face, "You know, that sounds a lot like wedding vows."

A red tint found its way onto Kazuma's face and he started stuttering, "Um... Well, there's an easy way to fix the problem of you not being able to get into law school to become a defence attorney and follow your dreams."

"Oh, and what would that be?" I asked adjusting our position so I was nestled in Kazuma's lap, my head resting on his chest, his heartbeat calming me down more. I felt him rustling about, I guessed he was trying to find something in his pocket by the words he was muttering; "Come... here... somewhere." was all I heard and soon, "(Y/n). There is a way we can solve that problem... Marry me?" My head shot up and I looked him in the eyes for any hint that this was a joke and when I saw none, I nodded, smiling happily, "YES!" Kazuma smiled and I allowed him to place the ring on my finger before kissing him, taking him by surprise and resulting in him falling onto his back on the floor.

"(Y/n)! I'm so proud of you!"

I smiled and returned the hug Kazuma gave me, smiling brightly. I then felt arms wrap around my legs, "(N/n)! Congratulations on getting your badge!" I bent down and gave Iris a hug, "Thanks. Haven't you lost someone though, Iris?"

"Hm? Oh, Holmesie was right here..."

"And I still am, My Dear Fellows! Miss (Y/n), I'm here to congratulate you! Well done!"

I smiled, "Thank you, Mr Holmes!" I smiled brightly. Would you mind if we took a picture so I can remember this moment?"

"Of course, Miss (Y/n)!"

"Yeah! (N/n)! We can take a photo!"

I smiled we asked one of my fellow new defence attorneys to take the picture for us and thankfully they agreed. After waving the girl goodbye, I looked at the photo and smiled fondly, resting my head on Kazuma's shoulder.

"Come on, (Y/n), let's get you home and to bed."

I smiled, "Okay, night night," I responded closing my eyes and falling asleep on his shoulder.
