Scarlett's POV
I opened my eyes slowly, only to wake up to darkness. It was really warm and I was sweating. I suddenly realized that someone was pressed against me and I started getting uncomfortable and panicking wondering where the hell I am. At the same time the darkness disappeared and it took a while for my eyes to adjust to the light. When I could clearly see, I saw that I was still in the room I was being kept in. I remembered the body pressed against mine and I slowly turned around. When I saw Gabriel and how close he was to me I screamed bloody murder and elbowed him in the face. I fell off the bed while trying to get as far away from him as possible.
"That's quite rude, you know." He said as he pulled in his wings and got off the bed while rubbing his face.
And in that moment I realized I was half naked in front of Gabriel...again.
"What the hell did you do to me?! Why were you in bed with me? And where are my clothes?" I got up and put the duvet around me.
"Believe me, if I was to do something to you, you would certainly remember it." He replied with a cocky grin.
"You're sick." I stated through clenched teeth.
"You want to know what's sick? Someone who tries to drown themselves." I glared at him, but I actually felt really embarrassed for what I've done. I let my fears conquer me and I panicked. Once again I tried to take the easy way out just like the coward that I am. It seems to be a very strong character trait of mine. And what's worse is that Gabriel witnessed it all.
"Where are my clothes?" I mumbled.
"Next to the bed, soaked. I'll bring you something else." Before I could refuse, and say that I'd rather wear the soaked clothes, he left the room. I dropped down on the bed and sighed thinking about what I did and what a stupid and weak move it was. It cannot happen again, if I was going to be stuck here for a while I might as well find out anything I can. Any new useful information. And in order to do that, I have to get on Gabriel's good side. I shivered, just thinking about trying to cozy up to that bastard. In that moment Gabriel walked in the room holding a black, long, slim dress.
"What is that?" I asked, eyeing the dress suspiciously.
"I know you like to dress in black, so here you go." I wanted to tell him that he can go and shove that dress up his ass, but I remembered my promise to get information.
"Thank you." I said as I got up from the bed and took the dress for him, even managing a smile. I went to the bathroom and shut the door. I examined the dress first. It was simple. The sleeves were long. I turned it around and saw that on either side, slightly apart there were two short rips that started from the middle and continued an inch or two down. What an unnecessary design. I dropped the duvet, unzipped the dress and put it on. It was smooth, and made of silk. It felt cool against my skin. It reached all the way to the ground dragging behind me. It had a plunging neckline that was a bit too low for my comfort. But other than that it wasn't bad. It was actually a really nice dress. Quaint. And it fitted me perfectly, surprisingly. I looked in the mirror, the part that didn't shatter, I was still pretty pale. I hand combed my hair and slapped my cheeks to give them a bit of color. Then I exited the bathroom, ready to play my role. Gabriel was still there, and when I came out he turned around and looked me up and down. I can swear that for a second I saw sadness in his eyes, but it was gone too quickly to be sure. I cleared my throat and asked
"Can you help zip me up?" Of course I could zip up the dress myself, but this was all part of the plan that I quickly came up with while I was in the bathroom. He looked surprised by my request and I don't blame him.
"Of course." He said, as I turned around and moved my hair out of the way. It was quiet in the room and nobody moved for a couple of seconds, but he finally stepped towards me and took the zipper, slowly pulling it up. When he was done I turned around and looked him in the eyes.
"Thank you...for before." He nodded in understanding, and he turned to leave.
"Where did you get the dress?" I asked, starting to panic and hoping that he would keep talking to me. Fortunately he turned around, suspicion was obvious on his face.
"It belonged to a friend."
"Oh, where is she now?" His face hardened at my question, and I immediately knew I made a mistake which made me want to kick myself. He turned briskly toward the door, opened it and said
"Gone." Before slamming the door shut and locking it. Crap, I messed up everything. No, I'm not giving up. Besides this time he didn't tie me to the headboard. So that was a small accomplishment. I'll do whatever it takes, to find out everything I can. I'm done being a coward.
