I woke up at ten but I didn't want to get out of bed and face the day. But I knew I couldn't stay in bed forever. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, washed my face and hands. I brushed my hair and let it down. Then I went into the kitchen and got a glass from the cupboard, when Michael walked in. We stared at each other in awkwardness not saying anything. He spoke first.

"We should talk about what happened yesterday." I just nodded, holding tight to the glass.

"It was a mistake. And it was my fault. I shouldn't have done that. It won't happen again. Just forget about it. Ok?" As he was talking I kept squeezing the glass, until it broke in my hand. Glass fell on the floor, and my hand was bleeding due to the pieces that got stuck in it. Michael quickly came forward and took my hand in his, but I snatched it away.

"It's fine, I got it. I'll clean up." I said turning away and moving towards the sink to wash my hand and take out the pieces of glass.

"Well I have to go. I have to make a plan with the other government officials about what's going to happen now that the president is dead."

"How did that even happened anyway. How is the president dead? Isn't he supposed to be heavily protected?"

"One of Gabriel's outcast, disguised herself as a maid. She was purposely in his room when the city was under attack. That's when she revealed herself, and stabbed him in the heart. Then flew off before she could be apprehended."

"That's a problem. How are we supposed to know who's on your side, and who's on Gabriel's? Or how do we even know who's human and who's not?"

"I know that's an issue. All the higher angels were granted human bodies. We could only distinguish the lower angels. They don't have bodies, so they steal them."

"What?" I said in shock. This is the first time I'm hearing this.

"I thought you knew."

"No I didn't. And just how exactly are they distinguishable?"

"They have purple veins across their bodies. And they don't have pupils, their whole eye is black. But they're still stronger and faster than average."

"So they could just take any body they want?" I asked repulsed by the thought.

"Yes." I just shook my head and wrapped a small towel around my hand for now. I started cleaning up the pieces of glass on the floor.

"I'll go get the medical kit from the bathroom." But before I could refuse, he was gone. I really don't understand him. At first he's caring, then he's cold. He's sweet, then a jerk. Seriously, I'm getting tired of his mood swings. Just as he walked in, I finished cleaning up. He told me to sit down, as he bandaged my hand. His touch was so gentle. After he finished, I held his hand more than was necessary. Hoping for...anything. But eventually he snatched his hand quickly away as if I was a disease. I tried to keep the look of hurt from showing on my face. Like it didn't bother me at all.

"You shouldn't be late for your meeting. And I have to go to work." I rose from the chair and exited the kitchen. He followed me, and walked towards the balcony. I was about to go in the bedroom when he said

"I almost forgot. Here." I turned around, and saw him holding my locket. I walked towards him and he gave it to me.

"Where did you find it?" I asked, looking at it.

"Next to the outcast last night, when I disposed of his body." I looked at him then.

"Thank you." I said meaning for more than the locket. He nodded in understanding and flew off. I put the locket around my neck and went into the bedroom to get ready for work.

Michaels POV

I arrived at the Leaders Building. Everyone was discussing the death of the president and what was to be done.

"Ah, Michael you're here. Good." Senator David said, approaching me.

"Hello David." I replied.

"So this whole thing with the attack and the president. It's a mess. People might start to panic, thinking that the city is not safe." He stated with concern on his face.

"We're going to take extra precautions and make sure that something like this does not happen again. I have to recruit more angels to help us. It's not going to be easy since many sided with Gabriel, and most don't want any part in the war. As for the death of the president, all I could suggest is that we find someone else that is suitable enough to run the city and its people. The senators could select or vote on someone to be Head of the City. And any decisions that the Head makes would be discussed and agreed upon with the senate. Again, by voting. Since we don't have the whole government here, I recommend seven people to be on the senate. What do you think?"

"I think that's pretty good. It's not so different from how things usually work. And you're right a lot of government officials are missing, so we have to form an organized and efficient group with the few people that we have."

"I'm glad you agree. I'll leave the decision making up to you. Of whose going to be on the senate and whatnot. Now if you'll excuse me, I have somewhere to be."

"Of course. Thank you Michael." I nodded and flew off.

While I flew towards my destination, I thought about Scarlett. How could I have been so stupid to kiss her? I let my emotions control me and I didn't think logically. But as much as I wanted to blame myself, I let myself think about how good it felt to kiss her. To hold her. She is so beautiful, just like...No I cannot go there. That was a long time ago. History must never repeat itself. It cannot happen again. Never. I dropped down at the edge of a cliff and watched the waves hit against it. Slowly wearing it down. I heard the beat of wings behind me and I turned around.

"Hello Gabriel."
