"What? What do you mean destroyed?"
"Gabriel and his outcast have taken over every safe city. They attacked the cities overthrowing my angels. Some of them managed to escape, which is how I've heard about this."
"So we are the only safe city left?"
"Yes, in the Unites States."
"But what happened with all the people. There must have been over a million people all together. Maybe even more." I said feeling sicker to my stomach every second. Michael nodded sadly.
"My angels managed to rescue a few. Mostly women and children. They are being taken care of as we speak. But the others are either dead or taken captured to be made slaves or...toys...to the outcasts. The ones who managed to escape won't live long."
"Oh my god." I said as the tears started falling on my face. All those innocent people. Michael took me in his arms as I started crying harder. I was glad because I didn't think I could have managed to stand on my own.
"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." He kept repeating those words.
"How could he have attacked all those cities and taken over them in such a short amount of time?"
"I'm wondering the same thing myself. He must have more angels on his side than I thought. Damn it! What the hell is wrong with all of them? Why would they join my brother? What lies has he imprinted in their minds? Damn fools!" He looked aggravated and maybe even a little defeated.
"Michael you can't lose hope. Especially not now. The people of Amsterdam need you now more than ever."
"I know. I know I can't. But Scarlett...as much as I hate to admit it, we are losing this war more and more each day."
"So what are we going to do?"
"Strike back. Kill as many outcast as we can. Make Gabriel's side weaker. I have to organize a plan. I can't let Gabriel unleash his madness on the other countries. I honestly didn't think that it would come to this. I'm truly sorry Scarlet. I promised your people that I could protect them. And that is not what I'm doing at all." I saw the regret in his eyes and it broke my heart to see him like that.
"Michael don't you dare apologize. You have no idea how much you've done for us, how much hope you've given the people. We would have been dead weeks ago if it weren't for you. You are one angel taking on all these responsibilities, trying to protect a thousands souls. You have to realize the weight that you are carrying and cut yourself some slack. And if you think that I blame you for any of this, you better get that thought out of your head. Do you understand me?"
"Yes ma'am." He replied as I laughed.
"I never heard you talk like that before. So confident and authoritative. I like it. And I will obey your every command."
"Well in that case...I order you to kiss me." I said in a low voice.
"With pleasure." He said as he smiled and kissed me. Slowly and softly at first, but then the kiss becoming harder and hungrier. His long fingers ran through my hair, slightly tugging at it. My body filled with pure sensation. Suddenly he picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. He started walking us towards his bed, never breaking our heated kiss. He put me down as he climbed on top of me, my legs still intertwined around his waist. His lips moved from my mouth to my neck finding my sweet spot. I started breathing harder as a moan escaped my lips. Michael started lifting my shirt slowly, asking for permission. I nodded. I arched my back as he removed my shirt leaving me in my black bra and black tights. His lips crashed on mine once more. His hands traveling from my hips, to my stomach, and stopping just below my breasts. The way he was being a gentlemen was even more of a turn on. I started tugging down at his jacket and he took it off in a hurry. He did the same thing with his shirt. I examined his defined chest and stomach. With my hand I traced every curve, every muscle. He was so handsome it took my breath away. He stood still as he watched me. I placed my hand over his heart, which was beating fast. I finally looked at him. Gazing in his beautiful blue eyes and whispered
"I love you." The kiss that he gave me said it all. There was no need for words. Eventually we fell asleep in each others arms. The next morning I woke up in Michael's bed. But he wasn't there. I stretched and rolled over. I started blushing, thinking about last night. I didn't have many boyfriends. Almost none at all. Only one. And he turned out to be a big jerk. Only thinking about sex. He finally got mad when I wouldn't put out. I was more concerned and focused on school and my learning. I was and still am a nerd. I was always awkward and shy around guys. But with Michael it felt right. It felt perfect. Suddenly I feel a pair of familiar hands around my waist.
"Good morning." Michael whispered in my ear. I smiled.
"Good morning." I replied, turning around as our lips touched.
"How are you?" He asked after our kiss ended.
"I'm good. Last night was really nice. I wanted to thank you for not trying to...go to far." I knew I was blushing as I said this.
"Of course. I will always respect you. If you ever feel uncomfortable just tell me. Your wish is my command. But now I have to leave and go talk to my angels. We need to think of something ASAP."
"Ok. Do what you have to do to save the city. I believe in you." I said, getting up from the bed.
"Thank you. You have no idea how much that means." He said as he gave me one last kiss before leaving. After Michael left I made breakfast and took a shower. I came out of the bathroom in my undergarments about to go into the bedroom to get dressed. But a voice behind me stopped me.
"Hello Scarlett. So nice to finally meet you." I turned around, my eyes widening, my breath catching in my throat.
"Gabriel."
