A Date and a Gift

"Adam hi." I wanted to ask why was he calling so early or better yet how did he get my number but its too early to be a bitch. "How are you? Am sorry for calling so early. I just wanted to know if you got in ok." When he said early I looked at the time on the phone. 6:21am. "Its ok. No big deal. We are ok. How about you guys?" "Well we got home okay also." He responded happily. We both stayed on the phone real silent. No one is speaking. "Vanessa am leaving for a business trip in two days. I would like to see you again tonight. Dinner. I would like to take you to dinner." He comes out with the word faster than I can process them. "I can't. I have to be here with my friend Becca." I shot him down quickly. "Take her along. I will tell Ryan about it. Please let me see you before I leave town." Hearing him beg softens me up. "Huh.....ok. let me check with Becca first and let you know." I quickly said then hang up.

I roll over in bed and pulled the covers over my head. I don't want to go on this date. I feel as if I am cheating on Caleb. Fuck.
Over breakfast I tell Becca what Adam says. As if she already know about it she said yes real fast. I texted Adam with the response and ask him to send the time and location.

My phone rings again. It shows that Caleb is calling. I went into the bathroom for privacy and answers. "Hey." "I called you and texted you alot. Nessa are you ok?" "Yeah am fine. I went to bed early. Sorry I missed your texts and calls." "I just want you to be ok." He sincerely says. We talk a bit until Becca comes knocking on the door. "Nessa hurry up. I want to show you my dress options for our date with the guys. I can't make up my mind what to wear." "Be there in a minute." I answered. "Nessa a date? Really? It seems as if you have forgotten who you belong to." "Caleb I haven't. Its just a friendly date Becca and I are going to." "Please don't go. Come to me. I have a place we can spend the night." "Caleb stop. Please. Its just a date." I tell him to shake all bad thinking from his mind. "I love you." I tell him and repeated this more than three times. He paused over the phone for a while and then responded. "I love you too Nessa." His tone of voice was very low. I could tell he wasn't happy.

After hanging up the phone call I went to see what Becca was gonna choose. She holds up a beige dress and then a black mini dress. They both look beautiful. I stand there for a while looking at the dresses. "That one." I responded pointing to the beige knee length dress. As if on que she agrees so fast as if she didn't help making her choice. We spent the day talking about our latest work experiences and other things that made us laugh or express other emotions. "So Nessa have you started dating yet?" Becca asks out of the blue. I choked on the orange juice I am drinking just by hearing her speak that way. "Ugh.......no. Not yet. Not ready for that road as yet." I lied. "Come on. Are you still hung on Caleb?" Hearing his name turns me on. "No am not. I just want to stay this way for now." I lied again. "Well I liked the guy you were talking to last night. Adam right?" "Oh really? Why is that do?" I asked now interested in her opinion. "The way he looks at you says it all. Plus he is the one who wants this date. Ryan and I were only gonna go out for a drink." She explains quickly and clearly.
I look at her in amazement. 'Is she really trying to be a match maker? Well let's see how this goes.'  I thought to myself.

Evening came quickly and we are getting ready to go on our date. "Should I tell the guys to pick us up?" Becca asks. "No. Tell them to send us the location and we will meet them there." I replied quickly. I don't want Adam knowing where I live. I hardly know him and I don't want any problems to arise between him and Caleb. It's as if Caleb intuition picks up whenever I mention his name because he is calling right now. "Hey whats up?" I answered walking to the kitchen and away from Becca who is applying her makeup. "Nessa come to me. Please." "Caleb we talked about this. Remember?" I leaned over on the kitchen island. "I can't think of you eating with another man. Having him look at you for an entire night." He complained. "Its just dinner." I emphasized. "I want to see you tonight." "How? Becca is here for the weekend remember?" The phone goes silent. "Caleb come on. Its just one night. Ok." "At least tell me where you're going." He says in response. "I don't have the address. Becca does. Once we get there I will let you know. If that will make you feel better." "Ok. I love you Nessa." He says and waited for my response. "I love you too babe." I said then hang up as I hear Becca calling out to me. "Nessa its time to go. I have the address and everything." She waves her phone in the air walking towards the door. I told her to give me a minute to apply a little lip stick and my earrings. I did all that and we are now on our way to meet Adam and Ryan.
