As I sit in the staff room going through some work I gave the 4th graders earlier, my phone's notification goes off. I put the pen down and reached for the phone. It showed a message from Caleb.
'Hi baby. How are you? I miss you 😘 🙂 .
Can't wait to see you tonight.'I smiled reading the message. But tonight is out of the picture. I have alot of school work to get done and I really don't want any distractions.
'Not tonight. I have a lot of school work to
sort out. So maybe some other night.'I responded and put the phone on silent and place it facing down.
I completed marking the students work and then decided to have a cup of coffee before heading back to class.
As I sit in the lunch room enjoying myself Mr Lewis approaches me. "Good morning Ms Scott. And how are you this morning?" "Not too bad. How are you?" "Well couldn't be better. I just want to remind you of the upcoming school meeting with the parents of the 4th-5th graders. You do remember right?" He asks looking at my blank expression. "I sure do. We do this yearly to know what contributions can they assist with for this Christmas." I quickly summarize. "Plus this year will be our first Parent Ball that we will be hosting to show support and gratitude to all our parents. There will be a meeting tomorrow at 2:30 in the afternoon to finalize the date and time for the events." I nodded my head after hearing all he has to say then watch as he walks towards the cafeteria server.I went back to the staff room and grabbed the board eraser and two markers. I checked my phone once more. I realized that Caleb didn't respond. I wondered what he was doing.
'Break's over. Heading to class now.
I miss you 😘 'I texted him. A smile formed on my lips as I look at his name and last night's flashbacks started. I started feeling so aroused. I backed up and composed myself a little. My back suddenly backed into something hard. I quickly turned around and realized its Shawn. "Am so sorry." I quickly apologized. "No need to Vanessa. I am the one who should have made it clear I am standing behind you." He says with a grin on his face. "I can see you're happy today." He leaned his head a bit as if tempting to find out what's going on. "Well it doesn't hurt to be a little extra happy." I smiled and moved around him and headed towards the door that leads to the main hall.
Inside the classroom was noisy. However the minute the kids realize I am there they all became quiet and waited for me to start the session. I greeted everyone with a smile. I also scanned around the room for Casey. It didn't take long for me to find her. Her blue eyes looks bubbly as she smiles at me and waves.
The day goes by real quickly and before I realized the time the school dismissal bell rings. "Bye Ms Scott." Each child shouts as they made their way out of the classroom.
I finished up in the staff room real quick then I was about to head home. Once outside I glimpsed a blond hair girl wearing blue blouse and black knee length jeans. She is sitting on the bench kids normally sits to wait on their parent. I walked over to her to find out why she's still her this late.
"Casey is everything ok?" I ask as I approach her and then sit beside her. "Yes Ms Scott. Just waiting on my dad. He told me he would be picking me up late but I didn't think it would be this late." Hearing her respond so politely and understanding shows how mature she is for her age. I stare at her for a while. She looks so much like Caleb. The only thing she got from her mom is the hair.
I find myself wanting to comfort her. I reached out and started stroking her hair. And as if she wanted that she leans into me. "He will be here pretty soon ok. Maybe something happened. Do you want me to call him?" I ask. She quickly nodded yes and reached in her bag for a pocket book and showed me his number.
