I went into Cole's room, kinda of mad that I had to wake her up. Her back was towards me, so she was facing the wall. She was curled up into a ball, which made it even more difficult for me to convince myself to wake her up.

"Cole." I whispered.  She didn't budge.

"Cole." I said a little louder wiggling her arm.

She moved over, and looked up at me confused. "Everything okay?" She asked.

"Cole...there's someone here to see you."

She gave me a confused look. "Who?"

"You'll have to come down and see."

She sighed and closed her eyes, rubbing her forehead. The headache must have started to kick in., which is why I didn't really want to wake her up.

"Trust me, Cole. You want to come downstairs. It'll be worth it."

She reached out her hand, and I took it, helping her up. I kept grasp of her hand as we walked out of  her room and towards the stairs. We took each step slowly, making sure Cole didn't get lightheaded. We get to the bottom, and they were no longer there. I looked over towards the living room, and there they were, sitting with their back towards us, talking to Lou and El.

*Cole's P.O.V*

We reached the bottom of the stairs, and I had just started to really wake up. I look up at Niall. "Who's here?"

"Over there." He whispered into my hear, pointed towards the living room. I looked over, and saw someone sitting talking to Lou and El.

We walked over, and as soon as I was about 10 feet away, I knew exactly who it was.

"Mom?" I questioned, barely getting it out.

Jade turned around, and we held eye contact. She quickly got up from the couch, and engulfed me in a hug. It took me be surprise, and it took me a moment to release my hand from Niall's and to hug her back.

"What are you doing here?" I could even hear the tiredness in my voice.

"I came to see you. We need to talk."

"About what?"

She looked over at the boys and El. "We'll be right back."

She grabbed my wrist, and pulled me over towards the stairs. We climbed half way up, and stopped to sit.

"What's going on?" I asked her.

She sighed before beginning.

"I'm sure you have some questions you want answered, but first, I just need to say that everything back home in Detroit isn't exactly...calm. Carmen had an absolute panic attack when you left. Trust me when I say, that she's not as scary as she appears to be. She was terrified. And Roger! Goodness, he looked like he was going to have a heart attack. The government is not very happy with him at all."

"How come?"

"Well, they don't have you anymore. You are almost on the other side of the planet."

"Why does it matter anyways?"

"You were their...guinea pig, in a way to put it."

"That's why I left!" I tried not to be too loud since I didn't want to get anyone worried. I wanted to get along with Jade, considering she was my own mom.

"It's good that you did, though. The news is getting out about you , and everyone's is started to figure out what the tests have been about. People are learning about what they did to you."
