Ericka's pov
It's been five days since Shane left to the Hilltop and wanted a separation. I love my husband but his hard headedness has been an issue but never to this extent, if only he let me explain myself none of this would've happened. Yet, I also acknowledge me being jealous my best friend ditched me doesn't help anything either. We were both wrong, now how do we make this right?
I've been talking with Michonne on the radio, Shay is doing fine of course she misses Shane and I but she is really excited about the fair. Every night when I talk to Shay, she tells me Shane has also radioed her and she's questioned why we aren't together but Shane told her is cause he's helping Ezekiel and I'm helping Tara which is partly true.
I've cried myself to sleep lately at the realization my family is separated not just Shane and I but Shay as well. I also have thoughts of Shane and I divorcing , which I do not want but if we did Shay would be all I have of him. For our daughter's sake, I really have to get my husband back.
Shane's pov
"We'll have you talked to her since you've been here?" Jerry asked me as we're hanging lights
"Nah, I was harsh on her. She probably doesn't wanna talk to me." I say as I try to shake the image of me yelling at her out of my head
"Do you want to save your marriage? Or are you sure it's really over between you two?" He asks me
"Well we can't exactly hire lawyers and split our assets can we?" I say jokingly which causes us to chuckle "not to mention the custody battle over Shay would be hell of a nightmare, I'm gonna do what I have always done for Ericka ever since we were kids." I say climbing down the ladder
"And what is that?" Jerry asks curiously
"Fight for my girl back." I tell him as I couldn't help but smile which made him smile as well
"There ya go, this is the kingdom where everybody lives happily ever after." He says as Nabila approaches him and they kiss as they walk away to be with their kids
"Hope you're right man, both my princess's desverve that." I think to myself as I head to the tower to take watch for the night but first I need to radio Shay and tell her goodnight.
"Hilltop to Alexandria, it's SW anyone there?" I ask
"SW this is MG, everything alright?" Michonne answers
"Yeah everything is good here, how about over there?" I ask her
"Well Negan escaped but came back willingly, other than that everything is fine. No sign of the Whisperer's either." She says
"No sign of them here either, hopefully they'll just leave us alone." I tell her
"Nothing from the Hilltop either. According to Ericka and Rosita, they're also doing good. Hopefully you're right." Michonne tells me. At the moment she mentions my wife's name my heart aches that I'm not with her
"Is Lil princess around? I wanna say goodnight." I ask as Shay's face appears in my mind causing me to smile
"Yeah, she's right here she's been waiting for you to ring in." Michonne says as I hear her get up
"Hey daddy, I miss you." Shay's little voice comes through
"I miss you too lil princess, how was you're day?" I ask her
"It was good, I passed my spelling test, aunt Michonne says I'm learning at a fast pace." She tells me with excitement in her voice
"That is awesome, I'm really proud of you." I say as I hear her giggle
