Scenting:

Noun;

A healthy, habitual trait to all hybrid alike. Using pheromones and one's scent to mark territory, typically their owner, or other prominent objects to warn off other hybrids. You'd also noticed a great deal of scenting sessions when your boys needed grounding, to otherwise even out their nerves or emotions.

You stared helplessly into the bleak and empty cupboard as your soul left your body to the mercy of the cruel world. You loved your boys—you really did—however, they were still eating you out of house and home and you weren’t sure if you’d end up killing them for it. Particularly a certain muscle pig of a rabbit who chose that moment to swagger on up to your little fridge that he had outgrown, whipped open the door, then pulled out the final jug of milk; which he shamelessly chugged down while you watched. Aghast at his belligerent manners.

“Ever heard of a glass?” You watched the corners of his lips twitch before his big brown eyes rounded in a last ditch effort to look innocent.

“Sorry, noona~ I was so thirsty, I forgot.”

Without even waiting for your acceptance of his faked apology, he tossed the drained carton right over your head into the garbage can on the other side of the room before leaving you to ponder over the lack of food to bring on the trip.

The fall had passed like a breeze, taking with it your innocent baby Jungkook who had become a nightmare. He definitely achieved his goal in looking like a beast of prey and certainly gained the confidence to match. He didn’t even flinch in front of the other—more dominant—hybrids any longer. The bunny hybrid even challenged Seokjin on every occasion he could, making the poor cheetah afraid of him.

The others weren’t slacking in their workouts either, effectively dwarfing you day by day, which also meant that they were eating more as well. You wouldn’t have minded if it wasn’t for the fact that their food expenditures were beginning to become even more expensive than your rent.

Already exhausted over the upcoming trip, you shuffled out of the kitchen, dreading the inevitable. It was the week before Christmas and your parents demanded that you join the family's annual Christmas party in the mountains at their favorite ski lodge or they would refuse to help you financially. An offer you would have refused if not for the fact that you needed the extra boost.

Unfortunately, the reporter salary didn’t quite cover rent and Jungkook’s appetite.

You were in the middle of packing for the trip, trying to find snacks for the private flight your parents had arranged, though came up short with just a handful you'd stashed away for yourself in desperate times of need. A very same handful that you found in the fingers of Tae and Jin as you entered your room to finish folding your clothes.

“You guys!” You cried, smacking your forehead in disbelief, watching the palpable guilt wash over their faces. “That was for the ride.”

“I’m sorry, Y/n..” Jin swallowed the bite of poptart. “Jungkook ate the leftover stew and we got hungry..”

“Want a bite?” Tae pursed his crumb covered lips as he held out the half eaten donut in invitation.

“No, Tae. I don’t want a bite,” you lied, pinching the bridge of your nose. “I just want you guys to get packed, okay? We still have to go to the mall."

Ugh.. the mall.. If there was one thing you were more worried about than sneaking your hybrids onto this trip, it was taking the seven of them to the mall again. The first time you had done that still gave you nightmares. You were at least a hundred percent sure that the experience traumatized you. On top of that, the boys were beginning to become a bit unruly looking, their hair looking wild and scruffy—apart from Jin’s, who decided to try and cut his hair with kitchen scissors—which meant it was long past due for a haircut. A prospect you were sure was going to end in blood.
