( It's been a long time, ARMY. Too long it seems. I hope you've been well 💜  Please be sure to read the important A/N at the end )
__________

A week passed and not much had changed with the boys aside from their behavior. Work on the other hand puts you on edge for every second of every day. Brayden hadn't kept his promise of going to HR, which meant he was probably keeping it under his sleeve for blackmail. You swore every time you stepped into that building you could feel yourself on the brink of a panic attack. But that was something you didn't want to think about. Not on a holiday. Not on a day you were going to dedicate solely to your hybrids.

The day was a warm one, the sun bright and high as the beginnings of new birds made themselves known to the world, and best of all the boys had seemed happier than ever. A couple of them argued over their video games while Jungkook and Taehyung quietly painted in the corner. Namjoon tried to join them at Jungkook’s urging, but ended up opting out when he decided he would rather read a book instead, leaving an unfinished painting of what might have resembled a bird.. Or a fish..

They didn’t know the significance of the day, but you decided to do something special for them anyway. “Let’s get ready guys, we’re going to the mall.”

“What’s the occasion?” Yoongi called from what was decidedly his favorite chair, eyes just peeking over his phone with a singular ear twitch.

He knew damn well what the occasion was, but for the others’ benefits, you explained. “Since it’s a holiday, we’re going to get some presents I had in mind, then stop by Milly’s to give her family some things. Then I was thinking maybe a picnic?”

At the mention of gifts and food, your boys were out of their seats and in their rooms to dress like someone lit their tails on fire. It was vaguely entertaining to witness, even if it did sting your ego that they wouldn’t just hang out with you without incentive.

Pushing your sulking aside, you readied their leashes and grabbed your keys when they each started to pile back in, dressed in nicer clothes than usual. You couldn’t help but prop a brow at their newfound need for fashion, nearly choking over Jimin’s clothes—or lack-there-of—wearing only a blazer that had a neckline that dipped down towards the depths of Hades.

“Have to dress to impress,” Hobi answered, head cocked to the side while fingertips puffed the collar of his camo-style jacket. You couldn't help but smile when you noticed the necklace set you got him for Christmas glistening beneath its’ seams.

Perhaps Yoongi did explain to them what day it was after all?

“Yah! Just my face is impressive. I don't need fancy clothes,” argued Jin, despite being dressed in a nice navy sweater and leather jacket. Things he never wore at home.

Yoongi—dressed in all black as per his usual—scoffed as you all began to leave for the car. “Riiight. And that has nothing to do with you being the most dressed up out of us all.”

“I don’t wanna hear it from you, or your clone,” Seokjin pouted.

You cracked a giggle at that, glancing over to the bunny who dressed almost identically to Yoongi, albeit with a black bucket hat resting over flattened ears. Jin wasn’t wrong about the clone remark.

The car ride continued like that with JK, Jin, and Yoongi all bickering over each other, which caused Namjoon to join in—more like Jungkook was incessantly picking on them between his fits of bunny giggles—laughing harder anytime the others protested. It was a relief when you pulled up to the mall parking lot, with ears ringing from the constant noise in such a confined space and a mental note made to look into a large vehicle.
