Jihwan dragged me to a building not so far away from the pub we were at. All I did know was that we crossed into the Criesonian side of town."Some of the other guys are on the rooftop" he said as we walked up to said rooftop. I looked at him a little scared "Why are we going to a rooftop?" I asked.
Jihwan chuckled "Target the enemy down below" he explained briefly. That was all I needed to understand exactly what I was getting myself into.
"Tonight is an annual celebration the O.C.A do every November to commemorate their status" He explained. "Not for long" he laughed after.
I gulped. Half of me believed we should let them do what they wanted, we have our celebrations, they have theirs... But people like Jihwan wanted to let them pay their price for taking our empire.
I decided not to comment and just watch.
We reached the rooftop. Walking out onto the platform a wash of cold air blew at my face. I gulped as I heard some people sing together.
"Hey its Jihwan!" one of the men smiled opening his arms to welcome my brother.
Then the five men took a look at me and started getting excited. "who's this Hwan?" the man that previously spoke asked.
Jihwan wrapped his arm around me. "This" He took a pause "Is my little brother" the men roared with cheers.
Jihwan pushed me forward a little into the guys who all welcomed me. "Welcome aboard kid" One said.
"Thanks" I mumbled. "You're making the right choice!"
"Fighting for freedom!"
"You'll be some fighter"
A few more comments were passed and a lot of awkward thank you's were my reply. Jihwan picked up a bottle in his hand and gave it to me.
I looked at it confused. "Hyung.. What's this?" I asked. Jihwan chuckled before going to pick up more.
"These are bombs" The chattier man spoke. He looked young I suppose he was around Jihwan's age. Jihwan was 20.
"Bombs?" I asked surprised. Never did I think I'd be holding a bomb twice in a day.
"Yep, one throw of those and when they hit the ground they'll burst into flames" He explained.
"There's petrol inside them" Jihwan said. "One lash of those and you're bound to be set on fire if you stand in the wrong place"
I gave the bomb to Jihwan before standing next to one of the other guys at the edge of the building.
He looked down at the assembly looking event happening below. He sighed "Filth" He mumbled "Celebrating their power over the oppressed" He added.
Now wasn't the time to be nice about this. I couldn't say "let them be, they're doing no harm" No. I couldn't.
These people surrounding me saw them as mere filth. They meant nothing to them. They weren't people with families and friends or feelings.
They were Criesonian. And that's all they'd ever be.
But then a thought flashed by in my head just as fast. To them, we were only Velorean. And that's all we'd ever be.
"Filth" I found myself repeating. The guy beside me glanced at me. "You don't look so sure" he chuckled.
I looked at him. "They're Criesonians. They are the enemy" I replied. He smiled slightly "It's okay to not be sure" He looked back down at the celebration.
"I don't think those guys even know half the damage they do" He said. "You think?" I asked.
He hummed a little, his eyes soft. Then that changed in a split second. "They took away so much from us" He said coldly.
He picked up a bomb and gripped it tight in his hand.
"WAIT!"
Jihwan grabbed the bottle from his hand. "Not yet. We need people down below"
I kept looking down at the celebration below. "Yejoon and Jisung"
Both me and the guy turned to look at Jihwan. "Yeah?" the guy now I know as Yejoon asked.
"You two keep gaurd down below. They could find we're hiding up here and so we need some of you to block the way up" Jihwna through us some guns.
I felt so out of place it was unnatural. I mean none of this is unnatural anyway but the fact I was holding a gun in my hand-
I had no time to think. Yejoon dragged my arm and brought me to the door to the stairway.
We both watched three of the guys aim their bombs. The moment one was let go, Yejoon rushed down the stairs.
I struggled to keep up but once we reached the ground floor, the screams and terror from outside was horrifing. "Jisung, you go over there" I followed his order.
Yejoon went the opposite side.
I watched outside as fire roared from the dropped petrol bombs, people running around, people on the floor injured or trying to help. It was all so chaotic and scary.
I held back a breath as people rushed past the door.
I panicked as a bang from right outside my part of the wall sounded. I threw the gun in my hands right in front of the door.
"You have got to be kidding me!" I whispered. I quickly went to pick up the gun.
"Wait! Jisung don't-" I looked over at Yejoon but he was cut off by the door opening. My head snapped towards it.
"What in earth are you doing!? We have to go!!" Some boy shouted. I kicked the gun away. "I-I thought I could-"
Next thing I knew I was being pulled out of the building and away elsewhere.
"Wait!" I tried to free myself but the boy was too strong. How was he strong? He looked my age!
The only thing that seemed to make sense to me was that people loved to drag me by the arm.. Anywhere.
