Im currently in the office right now, I got scolded by dad due to smoking, and I kinda deserve it dahil if my mom is still alive, she would also be mad at me.
"Ma'am ready na po yung conference room, pinapa punta na po kayo ni sir Greggy" sabi sakin ni sheena, assistant ni daddy.
"Sige, susunod na ako thankyou she" sabi ko at kinuha ang ipad ko sa table at pumunta sa conference room.
I sat beside kuya Alfy and waited for the board members and other important people to come, later on dad stood up and started talking.
"Good afternoon, first I'd like to welcome you all and thank everyone for coming, especially at such short notice. I know you are all very busy and it's difficult to take time away from your daily tasks for meetings. I'd like to take a moment to introduce my daughter Gia, our new Chief Marketing Officer" dad said in unison and I greeted everyone with a nod.
The meeting went on and did a recap of this year's performance and of course it did well, Aside from my Abuelo, dad is one of the people I look up to the most. His great mind made Araneta Properties and helped 19 other companies grow in the philippines.
Fast forward
Im currently having dinner with ate Bianca, the wife of kuya Manuel, in wildflour in bgc.
"So how's things going?" Tita Bianca asked.
"It's good naman, how's things going with the Elizalde's?" I asked.
"They're chill, pero got shocked nung nalaman na you live with your dad na" sabi ni ate Bianca.
"As if they care about me, eh kulang nalang palayasin nila ako ah" sabi ko sakanya remembering the time when tumuloy ako sa family house nila sa dasma village, they didn't want me there.
"Gia, give them a chance" sabi ni ate Bianca.
"Nah, It seems like ikaw lang ang Araneta na kaya nilang tanggapin" sabi ko.
"Oh come on, anyways tita Bettina is the host of this years grand reunion ng Araneta clan ah" banggit sakin ni ate Bianca.
"I'll be going, I got the email from ninang Bettina earlier, it would be nice catching up with her and ninong Sabin." Sabi ko.
"That's nice, it's like you're doing well with the Araneta's?" Tanong ni ate Bianca.
"I am trust me, my tita's in my dad's side adores me."
I said in a joking manner.
"Of course they do, you're such a sweet heart kaya!" Sabi nya.
"Ate?" I asked her.
"Hmm?" She asked back.
"Do you think mama is happy with all of this?" I asked.
"Of course she is dear! Tita Nadia is so proud of you, she's an amazing women herself so she surely raised an amazing woman as well" Ate Bianca assured me and held my hand.
I smiled and continued eating, ever since I met ate Bianca, she's my go to person to talk to, I mean family ko sya both sides and she's so nice! I talk to kuya Manu din naman pero it's different.
"Gi, I need to go maaga pasok nila Amara bukas so need ko na umuwi, thankyou for the dinner ha" sabi sakin ni ate Bianca.
"Sige ate, ingat ka say hi to the kids nalang for me" sabi ko.
"Of course!" Sabi nya and we made beso.
Fast forward
I just got home, I changed my clothes and went to dad's and tita Irene's room, but wala si tita Irene kasi she's in san juan with lola Imelda.
"Daddy?" I knocked.
"Yes dear? Come in" sabi ni daddy.
I opened the door and saw him reading his news paper.
"Oh, how's dinner with Bianca?" He asked as he put down his news paper in the side table along with his glasses.
"It's fine, are you going to the reunion? Ninang Bettina invited me" sabi ko as I sat beside him in the bed.
"I am, alam mo naman ang mga tita mo pinilit ako, hey you should stop smoking na talaga ha, ipapamulto talaga kita sa mommy mo" sabi nya sakin.
"When are we over about this? And you smoke din naman so what's the harm?" Sabi ko.
"Yes, pero I do not do it daily. Baka mamaya maging chain smoker kapa nyan, it's bad for you" sabi nya.
"I know, im sorry I just really missed mommy" sabi ko at niyakap sya.
I don't know why im being so clingy all of the sudden.
"Hey, alam ko di ko naman p-pwede tanggalin ang pagkaka miss mo sa mommy mo, but im here for you always, your tita Irene is also here for you, lahat kami. And im so happy na your doing good with us, kung alam mo lang kung gaano katagal gusto ni Irene ng unica hija, pero alam mo? Sabi nya when you came she felt like unti unting napupunan yung want nya na yon, she's not trying to replace your mom pero napapalapit na sya sayo and even referring to you as her bunso, our bunso." Sabi nya daddy as he place his arms in my shoulders.
"Say that to kuya Luis and watch tita Irene's bunso throw a tantrum like he doesn't have 3 kids" I joked.
"Luis is also my bunso, pareho kayong bunso ko but he had his time, and now you're having yours" dabi ni daddy and he kissed my forehead.
"Is tita Irene not coming home?" Tanong ko.
"Baka bukas na sya umuwi" sabi ni daddy as he sighs.
"You want me to sleep beside you?" Tanong ko.
He didn't answer and let go of me so we can fix our position.
"Goodnight daddy, I love you" sabi ko.
"Goodnight sweet heart, love you more" and he turned off the night lamp.
It may have been a rough start for me and dad, but this is what it means when two people really wanted to make something work, nung una sabi ko baka lagi lang kaming mag away pero hindi, nakakaya ko pang maglambing sakanya and in this age ha, wala naman masama dun pero im not a teenager anymore but this feels like healing my inner child.
