Chapter 9 : Happy Thanks-Fucking-Giving

Y/N dragged Xavier to the kitchen, she planned the menu with her dad and they all started to cook.

Mr. Galpin was showing Xavier how to stuff the turkey, Y/N took this opportunity to go talk to Tyler who was being silent while mixing the cake batter.

- "What's up?" She nodged him with her elbow while peeling some vegetables. Her brother took some flour on a tip on his finger and spread it on her cheek.  "Hey !" She laughed and threw some potato peels at him, they both started a food fight in the kitchen.

- " Not again " The sheriff rolled his eyes, "this happens every year" He tells Xavier, "pretend to be occupied before they attack you" He turned back to his turkey

Xavier laughed, making his girlfriend look at him. She smirked and threw flour at him. "Oh you'll regret that" He laughed and threw some stuffing at her, hitting her shirt.

The fight food went for about fifteen minutes, and now, they were cleaning the mess they made. While the sheriff was pouring himself a glass of whiskey, "Do you drink son?" He questionned Xavier.

- "No, I do not sir" He shook his head a little.

- "Good" He seemed pleased with the answer and went to sit in the couch, waiting for the turkey to cook in the oven. He turned on the news on the TV,

" Another body was found in the woods last night. They indentified the body this morning, it was Ben Halper."

Y/N open her eyes wide, "that's the guy that pushed me in the bus.." She whispered to Xavier, she was shocked to here this.

" The Mayor leans towards the theory it's a bear attack. "

- "Bullshit " The sheriff exclames, "we all know this wasn't a bear attack"

- "Who do you think it was ?" Tyler asked.

The dad looked at the two teenagers, and prefered not answering. But Y/N understood.

- " Do you really think it's someone from Nevermore ?" She said getting pissed off. "They are not monsters, dad."

He rolled his eyes, "i guess, thank god, at least you chose a fairly normal one "

- "What the fuck does that mean?" She threw the things she had in her hands.

- "Y/N it's okay, i get what he means"

She scoffed, " why would it be so hard to believe it really was a bear ? i got attacked by one !" She pointed to her leg.

Her dad just ignored her now, not wanting to ruin the day more.

" Happy Thanks-Fucking-Giving !" She spat and to her room.

Xavier sighed and followed her, he didn't say anything as he closed her bedroom door.

The girl started crying a little, "I am so sorry about what he said"

- "I heard way worse, i don't think he was trying to be mean. He looks exhausted with everything going on" Xavier said while sitting down on her bed then patted his knees "Come here".

The girl sat down on his knees and cuddled up against his chest.

After three hours, Tyler knocked on the door then opened it, seeing Xavier and Y/N watching some videos on his phone.

- "Hey" He said, "Dinner's ready, dad's sorry, can you just come down and pretend he isn't a jerk sometimes ?"

Xavier took her hand, "Come on?" He got up, hoping she would follow him.

- "If he says one thing wrong, i am going back to Nevermore" She warned and the three went back downstairs.

The table was set, and the couple sat down together while Mr. Galpin put the Turkey on the table and sat down aswell. The atmosphere was cold and awkward, but after half an hour, Y/N was already laughing with her brother.

Everything went back to order, everyone ignored what happened a few hours before.

They all said by turns for what they were thankful for.

Xavier was the last one to speak, "and I am thankful for having a chance to celebrate thanksgiving at least once" He smiled, and then whispered to Y/N's ears, "and i am extremely grateful to have you in my life".

Making Y/N blush and she smiled at him, taking his hand under the table.

The rest of the dinner went well, and now Y/N was with Xavier in her room. He dad let him sleep in her room, which shocked the girl at first but she was glad.
