A Title With No Spoilers

A/N --- I'm going to rush over a few things. The entirety of it could be completely written out, but that would take chapters, and it might be boring. It's not the point of the story.

Edit for clarification on military rules: when it comes to military and chain of command, Hux is essentially her boss. Dating is a big no no. However, they are close enough in rank that they CAN date as long as she answers to someone other than Hux. (Aka another boss) ...but that ultimately ended up meaning she would be changing stations. She doesn't want a long term relationship. She wants to enjoy her life. Fuck, she could have dated Kylo or Phasma or Mehdo if she wanted to and that would have been perfectly fine. She can't "transfer" over to them though. Kylo Ren has no rank and does Sith shit. Phasma is an infantry Captain, which is under the rank Colonel. Mehdo and whoever his boss is isn't even in the army. He's navy.

What should have been an easy fix was plagued by the circumstances of Hux's ship being "Unorthodox".

Hope this helps 😁

I was approved for a spot on Starkiller Base.

General Hux would have used his rank to station me there, as it is still technically under his command, but I was approved because of my outstanding record and recent hand in the developments of the shipyards on the Base itself. Apparently, the current commanders were going to request for my transfer anyway. Am I still under General Hux's command? Not immediately under; it's a complicated rank system.

I had talked to Lieutenant Mehdo on my last day about the whole transfer thing, obviously leaving out the relationship part. He was happy for me, and outspokenly jealous- but in a friendly kind of way. Apparently, he's been trying to get stationed there for the last few months.

General Hux still asked if I wanted to stay on the Finalizer with him up until the very last minute, right as I was boarding the transfer shuttle. As much as I would have wanted to stay, it just wasn't feasible. Once I gave him my final no, he kissed me goodbye infront of Ren and Phasma and Mehdo and some other people.

Phasma nearly jumped out of her armor in complete bewilderment. Hux's excuse was that since I was transferring out of his command, it no longer mattered.

I still remember that kiss fondly and I find myself touching my lips still, trying to replicate the feeling once more. It never works.

I drowned out my sadness with work and when I couldn't stop thinking about him, I worked even more. It's not necessarily healthy, but who cares? There's worse things to do, like smoking.  At least I'm contributing to something important. With the constant arrival of ships docking into the new Shipyards, I realized the base will need more Navy personell. I called up Mehdo and asked if he was still up for the task. He said yes. I sent out a request of his transfer. Sure enough, Lieutenant Lee Mehdo was approved with a very familiar signature and note attached.

I keep losing my damned lighter. Surely you have a solution for that?

General A. Hux

I laughed at his little joke and decided to play along with his game. I ordered an entire shipment of lighters with his last name, HUX, printed on each lighter. I labeled it as urgent. Soon he will be receiving about twenty-some crates which amounts to about twenty-some thousand lighters to his ship, with a message attached to it with a simple word.

Solved.

Phasma called me days later on my holopad. "Captain Phasma! What's up?" I said cheerily. I was in the middle of discussing work with Mehdo at the time; So I was a bit busy, but happy to speak with her.
