Space Rocks

The Imperial Ball is in six days. I've been trying to wear those damn heels as much as I can, but I simply don't have time.

Hux and I did have time for a little date night earlier this week. We signed off to use an empty enclosed meeting room, labeled as a meeting involving top secret information so no officer could bother us. We made sure to put it on the schedule so that everyone knew not to contact us unless it was an absolute emergency.

I brought a change of nice clothes and snuck in a wine bottle to our little after work meeting. Hux brought the rest. The thing about scheduling a top secret meeting is that certain soundproof and windowless rooms are used. Need I say anymore?

I wore my heels.

I don't have time to reminisce. Today is a busy day. Hux and I are in the main meeting room -we have yet to have sex in this particular room- next to the command bridge, discussing our current situation.

We're on a hologram call with a few other Admirals or Majors stationed ahead of us on the Supremecy as well as the other Star Destroyers in our fleet. Foskett leans against the wall, taking notes for Hux, but mostly for me. He allows me to take the lead in advising the other ships' Commanders on our best possible routes since this is my field of expertise. We will be running into some rather annoying and unavoidable space debri. These rocks came out of nowhere. They're big enough to bypass our shields and do major damage to our fleet.

Going around it would take days. I don't like that. Hyperspace isn't an option since we were already on our way to refuel. That last reserve should be for emergencies only. On top of that, our ship is expecting cargo shipments at specific coordinates and times. Rescheduling it would be a nightmare, especially with our recent issues in this company's lateness.

Some of the other navigators think that going around it is our best option. I say we find a better way. It's been a while since I've actually done something with space navigation. I'm having a lot of fun, save for the fact that this debri can easily destroy our ships and kill us all. Despite that, I've come up with a bold decision.

"The Supremecy can easily fit through this area as long as we reposition our fleet and take out a few rocks at these specific locations. We use our laser cannons to clear the pathway and deploy as many TIE fighters as we need for anything that doesn't show up on our radar. We move our Star Destroyers at the front here, here." I begin marking on a three dimensional holomap of the area that the other Admirals and Majors can see on their end as well. Hux studies it in thought, and puts two other marks on the map. "Good idea..." I mumble in deep concentration, crossing my arms and double checking the data.

Hux looks back up from the map to his conference call. "This new course will keep us right on schedule. Captain?" Hux turns behind him.

"Already on it." Fosket starts typing away on her tablet. She studies a miniature version of the map and starts inputting the actual mathematical distance between ships into our computers.

"Excellent. I expect everyone to be in their new positions in the next two hours. Let me know if there are any issues." Hux says to the officers as well as Foskett. He ends the call.

We both sigh, not of stress, but from the inconvenience of the space debri. It's already the early afternoon, and based on the scanners, our computers predict about a sixteen hour trip through this dangerous terrain. Someone is going to have to stay up for this. I'm already assuming it will be me and Hux. Staying up all night is the easy part. Continuing onto tomorrow's shift is what I'm not looking forward to.

"I'll add these new scans to the map another time." I say, swiping away the debri models and locations.

"What are you thinking of calling it?" Hux asks.
