Hux is a bad influence.

I find myself slipping into his half demands and saying yes to things that I shouldn't be doing while still on my shift. But then again, he wasn't asking and I'm not complaining either. I'm just following orders. No. I can't say that. At any point I can say no and he knows it too.

Neither of us could stay professional around eachother at the table. I shouldn't be eating an early dinner with him in the first place. We shouldn't be getting a drink together. I'm just having one 'Sex on the Beach' Cocktail to calm my racing heart. I shouldn't even be here. I have to get back to work... But it's just one evening, right?

Besides, A single cocktail isn't going to do anything- and yes, I ordered that drink because of the Schnapps.

I marvel in his unwavering presence. He sips his Mojito inbetween sentences and just keeps the conversation going with stories. It's mainly about work, but he works with Ren- and those two will create the weirdest disagreements over the pettiest of things. It's hilarious.

"I am going to shove that fucking lightsaber of his so far up his ass and split him in half." Hux finally says after going off about wanting him dead.

I burst out laughing so uncontrollably, that I'm cackling at this point. I shouldn't have laughed. He's just so funny when it comes to his rivalry with Ren. I'm aware that he's perfectly capable of doing what he says he'll do, but it's the military. We kill. Is it weird that it's about his coworker? Yes, but it's also funny. I love that about him. I'm nearly in tears of laughter when he slams his palm on the table. The silverware clink loudly on the empty plates.

"It's not funny! He's... he's a fucking Weichei for using his stupid magic tricks. If he didn't have them, I'd have him on his knees begging for my mercy!"

"I don't know what a Vy-shy is, but even if he didn't have his powers, he's got you physically beat. What makes you think you can take him on?"

"The same way you handle guys bigger than you, mein Schatz. Find their weakness and fight dirty. Ren has so many that I could take advantage of."

"Like those other officers?" I raise an eyebrow playfully.

His expression changes from regular annoyance to a quiet and intimidating gaze. "What?" He says, in a rhetorical threat. His head tilts, as if daring me to keep going.

I roll my eyes. "Armitage, you've told me you killed other officers before. Remember?"

"Yea? And what are you going to do about it?" Hux sits quietly, patiently observing me with his piercing gaze.

"Nothing. I was just-"

"Then why bring it up now?" He cuts me off.

"I thought it was a good time to bring it up, but clearly I was mistaken. I didn't mean to provoke you. We can talk about that another time." I say to deflate the tension.

"Yea. Another time." He nods, still studying me as if trying to read me.

"Besides, I have a better solution for you. Just don't react to him. It's what I've done and he seemed to leave me alone afterwards."

"I'm not reacting. I don't react."

"You do react just like you're reacting now. Look at you!" I gesture my hand at him.

He falls back in his seat and sighs in defeat. "Fine. I sometimes react. I need a cigarette break. Care to join me outside? It's quite warm in here." He gets up and picks up his overcoat neatly placed on another chair next to mine. He slips his arms through the sleeves, adjusting here and there.
