A/N Lots of dialogue
-----a few months go by-----
My transfer has been delayed simply because of the amount of work that needed to be finished. The data we retrieved made a domino effect of attacks, counters, evasions, and more attacks. Of course, we were the ones doing the attacking. My role in these strategical maneuvers were significant. So much so, that I've gained respect from other officers that once sneered at my demoted status. Finally, I'm back to doing what I'm good at: Getting rid of Resistance Scum; Making the galaxy a better place.
The transferring of shipyards from a few planets to Starkiller Base is finally underway. For the most part, my plan is being carried out rather well. One group of ships is already enroute to Starkiller Base. The few others are nearly ready to travel. A few minor issues postponed one planet as new enemy movement was detected in the next planet over. Kylo Ren is observing said enemy movement along with his entourage of Knights deployed at specific locations at my recommendation.
We await on Commander Ren's orders to deploy whatever is necessary to his location. General Hux anticipates an attack formation, but I disagree. I voice my opinion to Hux as I adjust my now teal uniform sleeve. He nods in respect of my opinion and in return, states his conclusion.
"The resistance could be moving for a plethora of reasons, Colonel (L/N). It doesn't necessarily mean they found the location of our shipyard." General Hux stands with his hands behind his back at the bridge of the Finalizer. He continues his explanation. "Besides, if we set up defenses, they will likely want to know what's behind it and why we are defending it in the first place. It will surely blow the shipyard's cover then if not now."
I cross my arms. "It's a risky gamble. Are you willing to lose that many resources if you're wrong?"
He looks down and checks his datapad to read something. "I'm not wrong. Besides, their fleet will surely be called upon once our weapon is fired. But just incase, I assume our forces are on standby?"
"Yes, General."
"Excellent, Colonel."
I smile at the sound of my rank coming from Hux's voice. I'm proud that Commander Ren approved of my promotion. We stand and watch the view of Starkiller Base from the windows of the ship. An officer walks up to us and speaks. "Sir, I received the confirmation of Starkiller Base's ground control. They are ready on your orders."
Hux nods. "Fire the weapon and prepare for a public transmission."
"Yes, Sir." He says.
I can't help but look over at the officer. His voice is oddly familiar. As he walks away, I study his light brown hair. He orders the technicians and turns back to look at me. He quickly averts his gaze and stares back at the technicians.
That's the Lieutenant I got into a fight with. Not the guy that started it, but the guy that punched me after I knocked out his friend. Huh. What's he doing on this shift?
I look back as I see a hue of red brighten in the darkness of space. I never actually got to see it in action, as I was stationed somewhere else. I remember watching someone give a passionate speech before demolishing the Hosnian system. Although, I wasn't really paying attention because I was in the middle of dealing with the aftermath of my defeat that ultimately brought me to where I am now.
The deadly line of red plasma shoots through the blackened sky and finally out of our sight. A hologram of the planet appears as we watch live footage of it being completely destroyed into nothing. Finally, General Hux steps forward and waves me away to stand on the sidelines. I do and end up standing next to the Lieutenant, but pay him no mind.
