A/N  Hold up. I just got over a stomach virus and now I have a cold. I genuinely hate any and all kinds of sickly human liquid.

Yea I just said that. Ew.

Anyways here's half the chapter. Let me die for a week and then I'll finish up the rest in the next chapter. I swear it's almost done.

*****

I blame the children running around with snot hanging out of their noses touching every fucking thing in the store.

It has been two days since we finally got back to the Finalizer. I had difficulty sleeping, since my dreams were filled with sounds of lasers and explosions. The unintelligible words of others filled all gaps of silence. I went through the familiar motions of aiming and pulling my trigger. I felt the weight of the rifle even when I woke up. My trigger finger was twitching and aching to curl in the air. I sit in my chair, surrounded by my office.

I must have fallen asleep while working. What time is it?

I look at my computer, locked from inactivity. When the screen turns on, it says 9:32. Phew. It's only been less than twenty minutes. I haven't even put on coffee yet and for some reason, I'm imagining the smell of freshly ground coffee.

I let out an audible exhale and get back to finishing up what I was doing.

Paperwork.

"How was-"

"Fuck!" I jump out of my seat and nearly grab my pistol at whoever the fuck said that. He's standing at the counter with a familiar black silhouette and orange- Oh.

"-your nap…?" Hux slowly turns to me, giving me a perplexed stare.

"Armitage! How long have you been here?"

"About a minute or so." He holds up a container of freshly ground coffee beans. "The coffee machine is down again at the mess hall. I take it you could use some coffee as well?"

I lean back into my chair, hand over my racing heart. "Yea... coffee sounds good."

"You know," Hux begins with a concerned look spreading across his face. "I could cut one of my pills in half tonight."

"I don't need any. I'll get better on my own. Just give it time."

Hux stares at the container in his hands and places it on the counter. I already know that he's deep in thought, but I'm not exactly sure what it could be about. I only get to type a few more words when he starts to speak again.

"I'll be needed at the Supremacy for a few days. I'll leave a few in my nightstand if you decide otherwise."

"When are you leaving?" I ask.

"Tonight."

"You don't need me?"

"You know I'd always find an excuse to bring you with me. But this time, it's best if you stay here. Take over my duties and keep everyone in check." Hux says.

"By everyone, you mean Kylo?"

"If he breaks anything-"

"I'll take care of it. Don't worry." I assure him.

Hux stares at the measuring spoon and then looks back at me. "I'll disclose the details to you at a later date."

"Okay, Love." I go back to working on some battleship routes for a few upcoming core world invasions. I still glance over from my work just so I can watch him meticulously measure out the coffee grounds so precisely. He's so clean about it. Meanwhile, I'll make a mess of my coffee every once in a while. He never seems to do so.
