Chapter 21

Samus' POV

I missed going into space, traveling and enjoying the calm and silence of it while I was in my gunship. It was going to be tough having to track Phazon's ship and retrieve my beloved. Emmerich did an amazing job fixing my gunship, it was as if nothing happened to it, I was glad there were no changes as I requested. The days when Snake was out there without me and no one to look after me, I asked if he could help me fix it. I kept it underwater before we were taken and attacked by Ridley. Now that I was able to travel to any planet, I could make attempts to remove the parasite forbidding me from speech and altering my body. Earth's technology wasn't so advanced as I thought, Itorash was gone and probably turned to dust at this point to look for clues. There was time to figure that out, our first priority was Snake, I let Quiet know she could remove the suit from her while we were inside the ship. 

Quiet seemed to be calm around me, not a hint of hate or caution, she trusted me. She knew I owed Snake, owed everyone and I was going to help them in anything. I had to activate ADAM once more for help, "Welcome back, Samus. Please set a course." I had to explain everything to him once I breathed in the herbs Ocelot gave me to numb the parasite. Like us, he was unable to tell me how we could remove the parasite inside us. I did not want any surgery, no operation that can harm anything from me, not that there was any danger inside me because of the X parasite, and my inability to speak. Snake understood that he couldn't force me to have the operation, that I would find other methods of being normal. Adam found a few traces from Phazon's ship, I set course to find them, I was afraid what that creature might do to Snake, like his enemies did to me. We both met our nemesis, or problems colliding with each other, and we couldn't forget Ridley was invading Earth as well, it was another problem on our sleeve. We come to arrive at an unknown planet I had no knowledge of. 

ADAM seemed to be in the same situation, we knew it had multiple readings, many life sources. It is where the gunship took us, they were either there or passed by. We landed for just a moment, see if they left something, or Snake left a sort of clue to help us track him. Quiet and I left the ship in hopes to explore the area, and look for the Boss. The place was a mess, nothing but creatures big and small, I had a feeling we had to keep landing in other planets. My beloved may not be here but others were. Quiet and I found some space pirates patrolling the area. We knew it was time to leave that planet and continue our search. 

"Argh!!!" I clenched and placed my hand on my chest, bending my knees until they reached the floor. I felt so much pain, something was happening to me and I did not like it. Quiet rushed to me, unaware of what was happening to me, I couldn't do anything but scream. It was as if something was pressing my lungs, my ribs, my heart. My pain alerted the pirates, which I saw them walking towards us, "Look...Out!" I said, pushing out my words between my grunts, I raised my gun arm and shoot at them. Quiet threw me away from them to shoot and kill them. I did my best effort to stand up and help her. The pain was too much for me to fully concentrate, Quiet turned invisible for the pirates to lose sight of her, but for her benefit of killing them quickly and attend me. I was busy too, surrounded by the last pirates. I kept shooting until Quiet helped me kill them.

I grew so nauseous, and so dizzy, I thought I was dying. I was going to die without seeing Snake again, I wanted to see him at least one more time. I fell  to the floor and started retching,  I had an idea of what was happening to me. The X parasite was fighting and killing the Skull parasite, after all this time it knew there was an intruder within me, killing and trying to expulse  the vermin prohibiting me from speech and other things. I was suffocating, drooling and tearing up as I started vomiting pieces of the Skull parasite along with my blood. I felt like my life was leaving me, I could barely breathe, the taste of blood and bile mixing and etched in my mouth. I fainted a few seconds after, I felt bad for leaving Quiet and perhaps I left Snake too, if I died or not.
