It Was Love

Chapter 23

    "Hey, Katelyn."

    I heard a flirty voice. I looked up to see Travis staring at Katelyn.

    "Ugh, go away Travis. Eli, do you want to play volleyball?" Katelyn glared at Travis.

    "Sure!"

    I stood up.

    "Ima go see if the other girls want to play." Katelyn said.

    She walked away towards the other girls.

    While I waited for her, Ein came over.

    "Hi Eli. Can you just forget about the nosebleed thing?"

    I nodded. He sighed in relief.

    "Thanks."

    He sat down on the sand next to me.

    "You can sit on the towel if you want." I told him.

    He moved and got closer to me.

    "Eli, I got Aphmau to play. You want to play Ein? I heard about the nosebleed. So you like Eli?" Katelyn smirked.
   
    "Katelyn, we're going to forget about that." I told her.
   
    "I'll play if Eli is." Ein said.

    We got up and headed to the volleyball nets. Aphmau was waiting. Me and Ein played against Aphmau and Katelyn.

    Fortunately, we won by one point.

    "You two are good! See ya!" I said and walked toward the water. I walked until the water was just above my shoulders.

    I shivered, enjoying the cold water. Then Ein popped up out of the water next to me.

    "How many times are you going to do that?" I asked him.

    He shrugged. I laughed. We watched Katelyn trying to come toward us. We continued to swim backward as she came forward. We watched as she was suddenly lifted up out of the water. Travis lifted her up on his shoulders.

    She looked down at him, her eyes wide. Then she looked at me, smiling. I was confused. Then I found out why. Ein came straight out of the water under me picking me up on his shoulders. I looked down at him. He smiled up at me.

    He started walking toward Travis and Katelyn. Travis backed up. We kept going towards them.

    When we reached them I tried to shove Katelyn off of Travis. Katelyn tried to push me off. Ein held onto my legs, keeping me from falling. Travis did the same for Katelyn.

    We kept pushing until Katelyn finally shoved me off. I fell into the water. I stayed under and tried to swim away. Ein grabbed me and pulled me back up.

    Eventually, Cadenza and Garroth came over. Garroth picked Cadenza up and they joined the fight. We shoved each other until Katelyn tumbled down. Cadenza fell next.
   
    "We give up!" Garroth and Cadenza yelled.

    It was back to just Katelyn, Travis, Ein, and myself. Katelyn pushed me off after a few minutes. I shoved her off next.
   
    "Usually, I'm not one to give in, but this time, I'll make an exception." Katelyn said, and jumped off Travis' back.

    "Aw, come on Katelyn! She would have given in the next time you pushed her off!" he yelled after her.

    I scoffed.

    "You can keep thinking that..."

    I looked down at Ein.

    "Ein, we won!"
