Happie Reading!!!
The room was dimly lit, and Anupama stood straightening the pleats of her saree. She heard Anuj's voice just next to her ear in a whisper, "I love you, Anu!" his warm breath fanned through her ears and cheek as he encircled his arms around her waist from behind and tightened his hold around her. She got butterflies in her stomach as she smiled and threaded her fingers through his hair and caressed. She turned to face him and shyly replied, "Anuj, office ke liye late hojayenge. Chaliye!" but he royally ignored it as he intertwined his fingers with hers and started blessing her knuckles with feather light kisses. Anupama shut her eyes tight as she couldn't contain her bliss. She moaned his name in a mere whisper, "Anoojjjj..."
She opened her eyes to complete darkness and tried grasping her surroundings. It was then that she realized that it was just a dream. She was annoyed that it wasn't a reality and then wondered how she even felt annoyed for what she never gave a thought to. The dream felt incredible and what mattered the most was it felt RIGHT! She didn't feel even a tiny bit remorseful about it.
She then sat wondering about how she had that dream, in the darkness of the bedroom in her apartment. An excuse cooked up in her mind that their little tete-a-tete in office and his letter that she read had preoccupied her mind for the rest of the evening and even during the night, and this dream was just an outcome of that. And she was very right about it. But what she couldn't figure out was the reason behind her enjoying that very moment. She tried finding an answer for that but miserably failed.
Now all she wanted was to spend more time with Anuj and also read all the letters he had written for her in all these years. Next few days went as usual, but the only difference was that even she started stealing looks of adoration for him. She caught herself every time she admired him unguardedly and chided herself for that. Thankfully he did not catch her at that, she thought.
It was then that the preparation for Bapuji and Baa's fiftieth wedding anniversary started in full swing. Anupama was very excited as she sat mending and altering Baa's wedding saree and Bapuji's sherwani. Right then she heard a knock on the door and Anuj's concerned voice followed it, "Anu! Tum theek ho na? Kuch hua toh nahi...please darwaza kholo Anu."
Anupama got worried and immediately went to open the door. She opened it and Anuj stormed in and started searching the whole house like a maniac asking who was there. She then cleared that no one was there, and she had just messaged him that her work was done. Anuj then figured out that it was a typo. He then saw the wedding dresses laid out and asked about it.
Anupama started to say, "haan...voh shaadi hai na meri..." his breath hitched and halted hearing those words. He couldn't even stand the thought of it as he immediately jumped in asking, "Tum shaadi kar rahi ho?! Kaun...kaun hai voh aur kya karta hai?" it was so tough for him to speak out those last few words.
"Shaadi hai mere Baa aur Bapuji ki. Voh firse shaadi karwaate hai na 50th shaadi ki saal gira pe!" she clarified, and it was then that he took a sigh of relief. He thanked the Gods over a thousand times in that single moment and he didn't realize that he did it aloud. She stood there admiring his fear of losing her and felt so blessed. He then realized what he did and apologized to her for that.
He said that even he wanted to help her with the preparation. Anupama started feeling guilty that she couldn't invite him for the wedding and started to say, "Suri! Suri! Suri Anuj! Mai apko shaadi mein bulana toh chahti hu par kya karu..." Anuj cut in and said "Pakao mat yaar! Kabhi toh apna yeh guilt ka button off karo Anu. Aur ab batao mujhe ke kya karna hai."
