Happie Reading!!!

This newfound feelings for Anuj made Anupama feel like she was again young. This time fortune was repaying for all the dark days that she had endured all through her life. Their phone calls were now an intimate affair even though she didn't confess her love. She herself needed time to come to terms with these new feelings.

Every time she video called him, she first looked into the mirror, tidied herself and then went on to call him. All her life she loved a person but this time it felt so new and fresh. It truly felt like a blessing seeing her love being reciprocated. She didn't know whether she could love Anuj with the same intensity as he did. But she definitely wanted to give everything in her might to this relationship.

She went on to read the next letter that she had very carefully kept in her cupboard. She opened to read it. It was dated 18th December 1995.

Dear Anu,

I didn't realize what I did was wrong until now when I am not able to see you. It's been three days into my suspension, and it feels like an eternity. I had been coming to college and waiting outside at the nearby tea stall just to get a glimpse of you. My friends would come and accompany me during the free hours. I used to come early so that I don't miss to see you enter the college.

These few days, I got to know so many new things about you. You never bunked even a single lecture. You only came out with your friends during the free hours. You loved having imli goli, aam papad, masala imli, sookhe ber from the stalls outside.

The most adorable sight that I wouldn't want to miss ever in my life is when you pop one of the imli golis in your mouth and scrunch your cute button nose with your eyes shut tight. Oh! It's a sight to behold. And every time you do that, I get this strong urge to kiss that button nose.

Today something very unusual happened when I stood outside the college gate. I saw a guy on his bicycle rushing into our campus. And in the next five minutes I saw you riding pillion with the same guy on his bicycle. I don't know what the emergency was all about and who that guy was. I got worried. I impatiently waited for Devika to walk out of the gate.

There she was walking out with her gang all chatty. I rushed to her and started bombarding her with questions.

"Devika! Voh Anupama kiske saath gayi? Kaun tha voh ladka? Aur voh dono aise jaldi mein kyun gaye? Sab theek hai na?..."

"Arrey yaar Anuj! Pehle tu saans le yaar! Voh Bhavesh ke saath ghar gayi hai. Bhavesh uska bhai." Devika said.

I then sighed with relief. "Par voh aise jaldi mein kyun gaye? Kuch problem hai kya? Sab theek toh hai na?"

"Haan haan sab theek hai." Devika just dodged my scrutinizing gaze. And I got the hint that she was hiding something from me.

"Devika! Sach sach bata ke kya hua?" I insisted.

"Yaar tu Anu ke baare mein sochna chhod. Tujhe usse bhi bhot better ladkiyan mil jayengi. Tu kyun uske peeche pada hai?"

"Usse better bhot si ladkiyan hongi Devika. But mere liye vahi best hai. Ab tu bata ke kya hua?" I again repeated.

"Tu bhool ja usko. Tu apna time hi waste kar rha hai." Devika replied.

"Tu batana yaar! Mera dil baitha jaa rha hai." I started feeling anxious.
