So, here is the next chapter...

Plot and the setting of this chapter:

The story now proceeds to the scene where Devika comes to the Shah house for an overnight stay with Anupama and her kids.

Anupama had proceeded to the kitchen to wind up the last-minute chores as the kids waited in the lawn area. Devika was leaving after she confirmed with her whether she was happy with her married life. Devika a friend who always observed and understood things about Anupama which she herself didn't understand. Her family treated her like a maid and her kids felt embarrassed when she was around. Her only support system was Samar who always valued her above anything. Devika was on a mission to make her kids think that even their mother was a very cool person.

Anupama and Devika reached the lawn area where the kids sat waiting for them. The moment they saw their mother and her best friend, they ran towards them and started pestering Devika to reveal more about their mother.

"You know what?! Your mother is an amazing classical dancer." Devika said.

"What? Seriously! Mummy aap classical dancer thi?" Toshu and Pakhi exclaimed.

"Thi nahi yaar! Hai! Your mom is a wonderful Kathak dancer. Uske dance pe na jaane kitne ladke fida hue humare college mein." Devika said.

Anupama was in utter shock about the things that Devika was divulging. "Devika, yeh sab tu kya keh rahi hai bachon ke samne."

"Mai sach keh rahi hu!" Devika was on a roll.

"Mummy please dance karo na. Aap hamesha winter ke saath dance kar lete ho par humare samne kabhi nahi kiye. Please mummy kijiye na." Pakhi pleaded.

"Nahi...nahi. Mai kaise kar sakti hu! Baa, Bapuji koi ajayega" Anupama shied away.

"Koi nahi ayega mummy. Sab so chuke hai.." Toshu said.

"Haan mummy, please kijiye na! maza ayega." Samar said.

"Haan Anu, ab tu dance karegi. Varna mai tera voh wala secret bata dungi." Devika said.

Anupama was blank. She didn't know what Devika was talking about. She was always like an open book. There were no secrets to keep. "Aisa koi secret nahi hai. Tu kya baat kar rahi hai?"

Devika pulled her and whispered in her ear and Anupama's face reflected complete terror as she pleaded with her friend, "Nahi Devika. Voh nahi." Seeing her expression even her kids wanted to know the age-old gossip.

Devika saw it as a great chance and said, "Tu dance karegi toh main nahi batavungi."

Anupama gave up saying, "Acha theek hai. Karti hu."

She first shied a bit and then danced to the tunes of 'Hawa Hawaii' with some really groovy steps which was a complete contrast to her personality. Her kids had never seen this side of their mom. They were in utter disbelief seeing her dance like that.

After the dance her kids were very curious to know the secret that Devika was talking about. They pestered her to share it with them. Devika agreed to tell them and when she was about to say, Anupama stopped her reminding her the deal.

Devika got into a very naughty mode and said, "Maine koi promise nahi kiya Anu." The Kids were very delighted and went forward.

"Tumhare mummy ka yeh dance dekhke humare college ka sabse handsome ladka Anuj, Anu pe fida hogaya tha." Devika was on a roll.

Anupama tried stopping her, "Devika pleej ne..."

"Voh toh Valentines Day ke din apne maa ke kangan le aya usko propose karne ke liye." Devika went on.

"Devika! Tu yeh sab kya bol rahi hai bachon se!?" Anupama again tried stopping her. Her heartbeat rose with fear that she might go on to reveal everything.

"Fir kya hua?" curious Samar nudged Devika to go on.

Anupama started regretting her decision to let Devika stay for the night at Shah house. It seemed that her eyeballs would just pop out of her sockets if Devika went on with another line. "Devika!!!" she started, and Devika went on.

"Fir kya! Teri mummy uss din college hi nahi ayi. Uska toh engagement hogaya tere papa ke saath." Devika said sadly.

"Arreyyy yaar! Sachme kuch hota toh...naam bhi kitna similar hai na. Anuj Anupamaaaa..." Pakhi dramatically added.

"Pakhi!" Anupama scolded.

"Chill mummy! College mein yeh sab hota hai. It's cool." Pakhi said as a matter of fact.

Anupama sighed with relief that Devika did not go any further. She said that it was enough for the day and the kids should go to their room and sleep. They all left the lawn area sadly as they were enjoying their time with Devika.

Once they left Anupama ran behind Devika saying, "bachon se tu yeh sab kya keh rahi thi Devika! Agar tu ek aur shabd aage bolti toh mai khud teri entry Shah house mein bandh kar deti."

Devika ran far from Anupama defending herself, "Anu yaar! Mai mazaak kar rahi thi. Mujhe pata hai ke kitna batana chahiye bachon ko."

Anupama stopped catching her breath. Devika came to her and placed her hand on her shoulders trying to calm her down. "Relax Anu. Yeh teri baat hai aur usse share karna, nahi karna yeh sirf tu decide karegi. Mujhe toh Anuj ne bataya ke kya hua tha. Aur mai Anuj ki baton ko tere bachon ke saath kyun share karungi."

Anupama was thankful that her friend was mature enough to understand that. But there was someone else who was eavesdropping on their conversation. Vanraj got restless wondering as to what could have happened between the two.

Anupama told Devika that she would go and check on her husband whether he needs anything and then she will join her in Pakhi's room.

When she reached her room, she saw that her husband was pacing the room restlessly. She got worried that he was not happy that Devika was staying there. He had already showed his disappointment before on the same. And she thought that he was still not out of that zone. She nervously stepped in asking, "Aap pareshaan lag rahe ho. Kuch hua hai kya?"

Vanraj turned to look at her and said, "Voh mai Pakhi ka mobile dene aya tha. Tumhari aur Devika ki baatein suni. Kya hua tha tumhare aur uss ladke Anuj ke beech?"

Anupama thought that she can never ever lie to her husband. She said, "Aisa kuch khaas nahi hai. Aap mera viswaas kijiye. Agar koi batane layak baat hoti toh apko zarur batati."

Vanraj started to say, "lekin..."

Anupama interrupted him saying, "Agar fir bhi aap janna chahte ho toh mai zarur batavungi."
