Life was showing its most beautiful colours to Anupama when she least expected it. A person who loved her more than his own life when she thought her share of happy life and companionship was over. She still struggled to accept her own feelings. All she could do was wonder why she felt good around him and crave for his presence all the more.

She started wondering what she would do if he went somewhere for a few days. She wanted to clear her mind and also come to a conclusion on these matters. Her feelings started to grow stronger with each passing day and the restraint that she had on herself was threatening to crumble.

Her thoughts were disturbed by the ring of her cell phone. It was Anuj's call. She looked at the time and started worrying as to what would have happened that he was calling at this hour. It was 10:45 pm.

She answered the call saying, "Hello, Anuj! Sab theek hai na? Aapne itni der raat ko call kiya."

"Relax Anu! Sab theek hai. I just called you to say that I am leaving for US tomorrow."

"Kya? Aap aise achanak mujhe akela chhodke kaise jaa sakte hai Anuj? Mai kaise reh pavungi apke..." she started to panic. The fear of him going away started bothering her more than anything else. She got so habitual to his presence around her that it felt as natural as breathing. There wasn't a single day that they never saw each other. She feared that he might leave her forever.

"Kya kaha tumne Anu? Kya kaise?" Anuj didn't expect this reaction from her. He thought she considered him as friend and nothing else.

She then realized what she had said and tried covering up, "voh...voh mai...mera matlab tha ke mai kaise yahan sab kuch akele sambhalungi? Mai toh abhi seekh rahi hu sab kuch aur aap aise mujhe akele chhod ke jaane ki baat kar rahe hai."

Anuj caught the sadness and the disappointment in her tone. "Mai sirf 15 days ke liye jaa rha hu Anu. Don't worry. Kal shaam 4:30 baje ki flight hai meri. Toh mai kal office jaldi avunga and vahin se fir nikal javunga. Toh mujhe bas yeh request karna tha ke tum kal office zara jaldi aajana."

"Theek hai." She said in a mere whisper and disconnected the call. Anuj sensed something really off with her. he was concerned for her. He so wanted to take his Anu with him. This was the first time that he was going away for such a long time.

He had some urgent work to take care of back in US which he couldn't avoid. US being the base location of his work he knew that this day would definitely come. He had come to India to set up his new branch and leave after a few months. But when he met Anupama here, things got off track. It wasn't what he planned for.

Yes, he loved Anupama, and he was determined on meeting her this time when he came to India. But what he didn't know was that after meeting her it would become impossible to leave her and go back to his regular routine in USA. He just found an excuse to stay back saying he needed to stable his business here before leaving. He kept pushing all the work that required his presence in the US and tried managing it from here. He was slowly converting his Ahmedabad office into headquarters.

He did all this just to be with his Anupama who had started acknowledging his presence in her life unlike the college days. How could he even think about missing out on all these priceless moments that he was spending with her.
