Is the Wait over?

Even I am excited for Anuj's return and I couldn't contain my excitement. So, here is an early update. 

My travel starts from tomorrow and so I am updating it today itself. So, enjoy this chapter.

Finally, the day had arrived when Anuj was coming back from US. Anupama couldn't sleep the whole night. As she kept rehearsing what she would say and how. She imagined every possible circumstance when they meet. And then she just abandoned everything thinking she didn't trust her emotions when it came to Anuj. She thought whatever she planned would all go into drain once she sees him in front of her. She was both excited and nervous at the same time.

She planned on everything about what she would wear, how she would tie her hair etc. She picked out a baby pink suit remembering her first day of college from Anuj's letter. That itself would be a hint enough for him to guess what was coming ahead, she thought. It would make her task so much easier. But to go in front of him in this unusual outfit was in itself a very tough task. She picked out the dress a night before. She ironed it and hung it neatly on a hanger. And right then she got a message from Anuj saying he had boarded the flight.

Anuj boarded his flight with his mind preoccupied with the thoughts of meeting his Anupama after what seemed like a decade. He was elated and his heartbeat gradually increased in pace. Not that he was meeting her for the first time. But this time it had a different feel to it. This distance had brought them closer to each other. They had definitely shed their inhibitions and let their guards down for each other. This was a very big transition in their relationship. They were both at the other side of it. Anuj was psyched to meet her with this fresh perspective and approach.

Next day she woke up early and started preparing all of Anuj's favourite food. At the breakfast table when she served breakfast to all. Everybody was pleasantly surprised seeing the wide range of food items to select from.

"Mummy aaj kuch special hai kya?" Pakhi asked as she started with her first bite.

"Haan mummy! Itna sara khana kis liye?" asked Toshu.

"Voh...toh...bas Anuj aa rahe hai aaj Amreeka se-", Anupama was saying but before she could complete Vanraj interrupted.

"Acha! Toh yeh sab Anuj ke liye banaya hai. Badi ashiqui chal rhi hai tum dono ki. Aur yeh sab bachon ko bhi khila rahi ho tum." he seethed at the sight of the food.

"Khana chahe kisi ke liye bhi bana ho uska apmaan nahi kiya jata Mr. Shah." she replied in a stern tone.

"Mummy! Aap kuch bata rhi thi...apni baat toh puri kijiye." Samar nudged her to go on.

"Voh aaj Anuj Amreeka se aa rahe hai apna kaam vahan khatam karke. Ahmedabad wala office abhi se mukhyalaye hoga. Saare desh aur videsh ke kaam yahin se sambhalenge. Toh usi ke Khushi mein hum sab saath mein lunch karenge. Bas GK kaka, Devika, Anuj aur mai. Abhi toh paperwork baaki hai. Voh jaise hi hojayega toh kaafi badi party hogi." she explained.

"Wow mummy! Yaani AK group of industries ka base location Ahmedabad hoga. That's huge!" Toshu exclaimed.

"Haan. Chal ab mujhe late ho rha hai. Mai jaake taiyyar hojati hu. Nikalna bhi hai." she said leaving the table.

Anupama wore the pink salwar suit with very minimal makeup and looked at herself in the mirror. She looked simple and yet very elegant. Wearing a salwar suit instead of a saree was in itself a task for her. It's been ages since she wore it the last time. The moment her eyes caught the sight of herself in the mirror her heart skipped a beat at the thought of Anuj seeing her like that.
