(A/N: gah I'm sorry it's only scorbus right now but heartstopper is literally the only thing I can think about at this moment and there are so many ideas flowing through my mind like the similaritiesssss...)
"Are you going to Karl Jenkins's party on Saturday?" Scorpius asked Albus, who was working next to him.
'Well.. I was invited, but I don't really know. There'll be a lot of people there, right?" Albus responded nervously.
"Please come. All my other friends are duckheads (a/n: what friends? oh right it's an au) and I don't want to spend an entire evening with them!" begged Scorpius.
"Sounds like you need some new friends," Albus grinned.
"Well, I have you now, so.." Scorpius interjected. Albus flushed slightly. "..Will you come?"
"Uhh, yeaH, DEFINITELY!" Albus exclaimed. "It'll be fun if you're there!" Scorpius beamed and they chatted for the rest of form.

Inside the hall, the lights flashed brightly, and Albus thought that his eyes would never be the same again. Uggghhh, he sighed. Why am I even here?
Oh, right, because of my crush on a straight guy, he reminded himself.
Just then, he spotted Scorpius, and they locked eyes. Scorpius's grey eyes lit up and they ran over to each other. "I've been looking for you!" they both exclaimed in unison, laughing.
"It's so loud here, d'you want to get a drink?" Scorpius asked Albus. "Yeah!"
They left the room and were talking about school over their drinks when Karl came in, saying something about a girl.
"Polly Chapman, remember? That girl you had a crush on in Year 7 and 8!" He pulled Scorpius away, but not before Scorpius shot Albus an apologetic look.
Later, Scorpius found Albus sitting at a table alone. "Hi," he started.
"I'm sorry." Albus said. "Your friends were kind of intimidating and-"
"DON'T BE SORRY! They're all duckheads!" Scorpius interrupted. "I'd rather just hang out with you anyway," he added, smiling at Albus.
"So..." Albus began. "I ran into my ex just now.." he said, referring to Max, a toxic boy he had previously dated. They both knew how bad he was.
"Schist. Are you ok?" Scorpius asked quickly.
"Well, yeah, I mean.. I dealt with it.. He tried to apologise, but.." Albus trailed off.
What happened was that Max had asked him if he was done sulking, and when Albus said to leave him alone, Max had tried to grab him arm.
"But I pushed him against the wall and told him, 'DO NOT EFFING TOUCH ME'." Albus explained. "Then he walked off, so I think he got the message this time?"
Scorpius smiled in relief. "I'm proud of you." Albus blushed yet again.
"It's kind of noisy... shall we go somewhere quieter again?"
This time, they ran through the hotel and found a quiet room. "Hey, you're faster than me!" Scorpius yelled to Albus, who was speeding ahead of him.
"Wow, this is so big," Albus muttered when they entered.
"Yeah. I know Karl is like, really rich but this must have been so expensive to hire." Scorpius agreed.
They found a spot to sit on the floor and sat down next to each other. Scorpius inhaled and exhaled deeply.
"So, um.." Albus started to ask. "Was Karl being serious? Do you like that girl?"
"No, no! Definitely no!" Scorpius rushed. "I mean, I liked her before but I barely thought about her since then and I DON'T like her that way anymore!"
"Oh. Okay." Albus said. "So.. you don't have a crush on anyone at the moment?"
Scorpius looked at him in surprise. "Well... I didn't say that.." he answered, averting Albus's wide-eyed gaze.
"...What's she like, then?" Albus asked, remembering how Scorpius had had a crush on that girl before, reprimanding himself to not get his hopes up.
Scorpius attempted a light smile. "You're just going to assume they're a she?"
Albus inched slightly closer in response. "Are they.. not a girl?" Both of their cheeks were reddening now.
"Erm.." Scorpius stuttered. He shrugged, trying to pass it off as nonchalant. Oh, gosh, his hand is so close to mine, he noticed.
"Would you.. go out with someone who wasn't a girl?" Albus turned his body to face Scorpius's better.
'...I don't know.." Scorpius ran a hand through his silky blond hair. "Maybe.."
Their feet were almost touching now.
"Would you.. kiss someone who wasn't a girl?" Albus asked. The pair were both a bright scarlet.
"I.. don't know.." Scorpius mumbled.
Their faces were centimetres away and their hands were touching.
Albus looked right into Scorpius's eyes, and mustered up the courage.
"Would you kiss me?"
"Yeah," Scorpius found himself saying, and he realised that he really meant it.
Scorpius's and Albus's hands intertwined, and they both leaned in.
And then they were kissing.
Albus thought that Scorpius's lips were really soft and he was a better kisser than Max.
Meanwhile, Scorpius was surprised at how much he enjoyed his first kiss with a boy.
When they pulled away, they were practically red from head to toe.
And then they found themselves leaning in closer, and they were kissing again.
Scorpius deepened the kiss and Albus brought his hand up to Scorpius's cheek.
When they separated again, Albus smiled. "You okay?"
"I.." Scorpius started, but just then a voice interrupted them.
"Hey, Scorpius! You up here?"
"I KNOW YOU'RE UP HERE SOMEWHERE!" one of Scorpius's other friends called. "Karl wants to talk to you!"
Scorpius stood up abruptly, and Albus felt tears start to form in his eyes.
"COME ON, SCORPIUS!"
Scorpius turned away, but as he left, he looked at Albus one more time
"I've just.. I've got to.." Scorpius said quietly.
And he left.
Albus couldn't have felt more alone and sad in his life.
"I'm sorry.." he whispered.
Both Scorpius and Albus had never been so lost as they were now.
Not physically, but mentally.
