"Everyone needs a house to live in, but a supportive family is what builds a home." Anthony Liccione

Chapter 3

Faith jerked awake as yelling sounded from the upstairs. She had fallen asleep on a dusty, threadbare couch, waiting for someone to tell her where she should go.

" What the fuck E, like we need a bunch of subs to play nursemaid to. You brought 'em here and they are your responsibility. Any problems and its your ass."

Faith clutched her hands tightly together as the deep bass voice echoed down the hallway. She could hear the stomping of footsteps on the floorboards coming closer. As the small group of men entered the room, Faith shakily rose from her seat and bowed her head in submission. All the men were much more dominate then she, with energy levels that seemed to come off as Alpha and Beta. She held herself completely still waiting for direction.

"Girl, what's your name and can you do anything useful? "

Taking a deep breath, Faith tried to find her center so she could speak calmly and not sound like a stuttering idiot. Peaking through her hair up at the intimidating Alpha she smiled shyly.

"My name is Faith and I am twenty-two years old. I have spent the last three years as a teacher's aide in a human school. I assisted with special needs children. Children who were developmentally delayed or disabled."

"Did your pack not have enough work for its members that a pup who hadn't even reached her immortality needed to look to humans for work? Could your pack not care for it's own?"

The Alpha had an expression on his face that Faith had never seen before. As if he was offended by her job or something, but more. Almost a protective look toward her. She nervously played with her hair and turned her eyes back to the ground hoping her show of submissiveness would calm him.

"No sir, my pack did not care for my family so we all worked outside of the pack." Faith explained quietly.

"We will discuss that at a later time. I asked you if you were useful. Can you cook or clean or something? We don't need a teacher for retarded humans."

"Ahh? I can cook? and clean?"

"What your not fucking sure? Can you cook and clean? A simple yes or no."

"Yes sir" Faith flinched as she answered hoping she said it right this time.

"Good. I am Cameron and I am the Commander of the Diablo Creche. You now belong to us. You will give your loyalty to the Creche above all others. I expect obedience. I will not tolerate insubordination or hesitation when an order is given. Am I understood?"

"Yes sir, Alpha"

"I am not an Alpha. There are no Alphas here. I am your Commander. You will address me as Commander or sir. You will address all the Unit leaders who live in this house as sir. Elijah, Zypher get her settled. I want the girl in the empty room by the nursery. She might as well take on the young as well as the housework. The other one put in the commissary. Your dismissed." With that he walked off leaving Faith looking after him frightened and confused.

Faith was shown to a dusty Spartan room.  All it contained was a small twin bed and a dresser.  Everything in the room, actually in what she had see so far of the house, had a neglected air to it.  If Faith did not know different she would have thought the house was vacant.  With a disgusted look at the dingy blankets and sheets covering her new bed, Faith sighed and prepared to sleep. She had a feeling tomorrow was going to be a long and trying day.
