Chapter 8

Dmitri walked carefully up the stairs trying not to jar his young and make him ill again. He had stopped by the trainees' room and collected new clothes for Jamie and was now heading to his own room so they both could clean up.

"Alright pup, time to clean up. Strip and jump in the shower we're running late for training." Dmitri said after setting Jamie down in his bathroom.

Jamie just stared at the floor while fidgeting with his soiled shirt. With each twist the boy would glance up at the warrior with a worried expression and then look away. Finally with one last glance up Jamie bit his lip.

" Mr. Dimi, I never had a big boy bath before. Rafe and Lincoln always help us. They run our water and put the soap in our hair and everything. I don't want to get soap in my eyes, I moved before when I wasn't sussposed to and it stung real bad. I might of cried and everything." Jamie said shamefully while staring at his feet.

Dmitri let out a put upon sigh as he rubbed the recurring pain in his chest. What the fuck was up with that he thought. He'd never had pains like this in the past. If they continued he'd have to get them checked out. The weird little purple shifter had said he was a healer. Maybe he could check Dmitri out. Right now though they needed to get cleaned up. Dmitri quickly stripped off his shirt while turning on the shower to heat up.

"Hurry it up boy. I'll show you how to use a shower then we can finally start this day."

Forty-five minutes later Dmitri cleaned up the last of the sudsy water that had coated the floor. It was barely passed daybreak and the day had already been too long. He and Jamie had both learned valuable lessons from their shower though. Jamie had learned that puddles in the bathtub are not meant to be jumped in like puddles outside. Bathtubs were slippery. Dmitri learned that pups should never be trusted with a shampoo bottle. Throwing the last wet towel into the laundry Dmitri grabbed his socks and boots and headed back down the stairs to gather the trainees and try to salvage at least part of his day.

Chapter 9

After watching the stoic team leader carry Jamie upstairs, Faith plopped down in a chair next to her brother, who was still shoveling food down his throat, and noticed the dark circles under his eyes and the slump to his shoulders. Sliding her chair closer to his she laid her head on Luch's shoulder and cuddled in close to his side.

" Brother, are you doing okay?" Faith asked as she looked up just in time to have food dribble out onto her forehead. The boys all started laughing as Faith frantically wiped her face on Luch's shirt.

"Thanks a lot ass hat. Did you actually need something or just come over to watch me clean up vomit and then spit food all over me?"

Luch calmed his laughter down to a light giggle as he wiped the tears from his eyes.

"I actually came over for a reason. The rest has just been a bonus. I should make it a point to come over every day if it's like this over here. The barracks are like a tomb. I don't even think anyone but the guy who brought us here and his mate have said a word to me yet."

Guilt flooded Faith as she noticed the intense look of loneliness cross Luch's face before he quickly pasted and overbright smile on. While settling in here at the main house she had given no thought to what her brother might be dealing with.

"Is it okay over there though? Are you getting on well?" Faith queried.

"It's all good Faith. The guys are pretty serious and I only really see them at meals so it will take some getting used to after growing up in our madhouse."

Luch looked around the table at the boys who were quietly watching them converse.

"I can see you are settling nicely here and am very happy for you sister. " Luch smiled gently at his older sister. He was glad that she had a good place to work. With here Fae gift she was more prone to melancholy than most and needed to be around good emotions. " I had wondered if anyone had mentioned how we were supposed to get supplies. The kitchen in the commissary is almost bare and don't even get me started on the cleaning supplies. The only thing that seems well stocked over there is the medical room. That at least has bandages and such."

"I truly have no idea. I had wondered the same thing. We don't have much in the way of food over here either. It's not like we can just order in either. Not with as many people as we have to feed. We'll have to ask Dmitri when he and Jamie returns."

As Faith finished cleaning up the breakfast dishes Jamie came hopping down the stairs with a big smile on his face. He ran past her into the dining room.

"Guess what?" he yelled excitedly " I got to take a big boy bath with Mr Dimi, and now I'm all clean and I smell just like him."

Jamie showed no signs of any lingering effects of his puking earlier as he ran excitedly around the room while humming. Faith glanced towards the stairs waiting for Dmitri to come down but he was not right behind Jamie.

"Jamie, sweetheart, where is Mr Dimi? Is he still taking his shower?"

"No he's finished." Jamie said with an innocent look on his face.

"Do you know where he is Jamie?"

A flash of guilt crossed Jamie's face as he shrugged his shoulders. Then he ran back up the stairs.

Chapter 10

By the time that Dmitri and Jamie returned to the kitchen Faith and Luch had already compiled a list of things they needed for both buildings along with any treats that the boys might want. The list of treats ended up being much longer than Faith would normally allow but all the older boy's would have to do was mention having a chat with Team Leader Dmitri about this mornings events and my involvement in them for me to add yet another longed for item to the already long list of necessities.

"Team leader Dmitri, who do I talk to about necessary items such as food or things that you and the boys might need" Faith asked as Dmitri began rounding the boys up for training.

He turned from Alex with a confused look on his face. After shrugging his shoulders he shoved the last of the boys through the door following them quickly.
