"Though the sex to which I belong is considered weak you will never the less find me a rock that bends to no wind" Elizabeth I

Faith stood in the chill of dawn once again saying good bye. Instead of going off into the unknown she would instead be sending off her mate, that which was her heart and soul, into danger.

Dmitri had tried to assure her, during the night, that their mission was not dangerous. But Faith could feel the lie behind his words. He swore that they would be home soon, safe and unharmed. But as she traced the scars that littered his body like macabre artwork she knew he could not promise such a thing.

Faith smiled as if she believed in his lies. Not for herself but for Dmitri's piece of mind. Knowing that he was worried about leaving her and the young with no protection.

Now she stood on the porch holding Jaden as they all said their good byes to Dmitri and his team. Dmitri was softly talking to a crying Jamie and Alex. Holding both boys in his arms, their heads bent close together, Dmitri whispered assurances of his return.

After setting both boys down he clasped Lincoln's shoulder.

"You and Rafe are in charge while I'm gone. Your job, your one and only duty is to make sure that Faith and the young are protected.". Dmitri solemnly stared into both their eyes "Can you swear to this? Will you step up and be the strong males I know you are?"

"Yes Sir" Both answered together.

Nodding his head at the oldest boys he then gently palmed Eric and Mikes heads.

"You two behave and be helpful. Listen to what Rafe and Lincoln say and help Faith out with the younger boys."

Both boys nodded their heads as they hung tightly to Dmitri's legs. Gently moving both boys away, Dmitri approached Faith and Jaden. Pulling them tightly into his arms he burrowed his face into Faith's hair.

"Be safe my mate". Faith had to force the words passed the tears clogging her throat. How could one person become the center of her life in such a short time? In less than a month he and the young had become her world.

Dmitri wiped a stray tear off of Faith's cheek with shaking hands. "Do not cry, Solynoshko Moya . I want my memory to be of your sweet smile not of your tears."

Faith smiled tenderly up at her sweet mate. running her hand down his jaw.

"What does that mean Dmitri? The soly moy thing? You have never told me."

"Solynoshko Moya . It is my little sun in Russian. I thought it was perfect for you, as we all revolve around you. You are our light and our center."

Faith tried not to tear up at the sweetness of his words. How could no one else see the poetry that was such a part of this warriors soul? It shone through with each word and action.

"Hurry home my heart. For I will miss you dearly.". Faith said as she gently kissed his palm.

Placing one last tender kiss on his palm Faith released his hand and slowly stepped back. Gently rubbing a sleeping Jaden's back in goodbye Dmitri turned to his waiting team.
Loading up into the SUV, Dmitri took one last look at his family before driving away.
