"Love begins by taking care of the closest ones - the ones at home" Mother Teresa
Chapter 7
Faith slept well and jumped out of bed ready to start a new day. On her way to the kitchen with Jaden she woke up the other boys for breakfast.
"Will one of you check to see if Team Leader Dmitri is joining us for breakfast before you come down?"
With assurances from the boys that they would wake the older male she ran down the stairs to begin breakfast.
After months in the field with less then comfortable accommodations Dmitri had slept well. When on assignment the teams could only trust each other, so no one slept deep. They were always ready to be betrayed by those they were trying to help. He woke to the creak of his door as it opened into the dark room. From the far corner where his bed stood he could see a small shadow in the dim light that filtered from the hallway. Dmitri stayed still wondering what one of the young was doing snooping in his room so early in the morning. He would let the boy think he was still asleep so that he would show his purpose.
Dmitri did not want to have to hurt the boy. But this behavior was unacceptable. He watched as the boy tried to walk softly towards him. He left his eyes slitted so it looked as though they were closed but he could still see enough of the boys movements to react when the boy tried to attack him.
Jamie was so excited to be the one chosen to wake the team leader. No one had really been staying here since he was taken in so this was only the third one he'd gotten to meet. Mr Dmitri was also the first one to spend any time with them. He tried to be quite when he entered the room so he wouldn't startle the male. He didn't want him in a bad mood because then he might not want to spend time with them anymore.
"Mr. Dimi?" Jamie said in a low voice.
Dmitri waited to see what he would do next. He could not see a weapon on the young so he thought he was safe.
"Mr. Dimi..."
This time the young put his hand out and touched his arm. Dmitri grabbed the hand before he could touch him. Unsure what skills the small boy had he pulled him over him and pinned him down.
"What..." As Dimi began to question the young the weirdest thing happened. Instead of fear the boy began to giggle uncontrollably. Dmitri cocked his head to the side and watched Jamie as he started squirm around on the bed as his giggles got louder. Did the young's fragile mind break? He had never seen such a reaction before.
Jamie tried to stop laughing, but it was too funny.
"You should have seen your face" Jamie had to quite his giggles before he could continue.
Mr. Dimi I'm so glad you came home. That was awesome." He let out another giggle at the dazed look in the males eyes"But we don't have time to play now. Faith said we have to come down to breakfast so hurry up."
With that the boy jumped up from the bed and ran out the door. As Dmitri rolled on to his back to look at the ceiling he could hear the young one running down the stairs yelling.
Dmitri was the last one down for breakfast. As he walked into the dining room everyone else was seated and preparing their plates. As he was about to sit at the end of the table the young from earlier looked up and noticed him.
Mr. Dimi! I saved you a seat right by me. Come sit here."
Jamie was practically bouncing in his seat. His small arm waving in the air as if Dmitri might somehow miss him. Faith had to hold in a laugh as Dmitri stomped behind her to take the seat that had been saved for him. When the large male sat down Jamie scooted his chair as close as he could to him with a large smile plastered on his face.
