"Sex is emotion in motion" Mae West
Faith awoke and turned towards her mate who was sleeping deeply beside her. Even in sleep there was a harshness to his features. His dark hair was cut close to his head emphasizing the starkness of his features, scars from several lifetimes of battle covered his body in a patchwork of history. A history she had briefly seen as their souls had united.
Leaning closer Faith laid gentle kisses along his collar bone and shoulder, where one of the worst of his scarring stood out in stark relief. Dmitri stirred as his arms tightened around Faith's waist pulling her into the warmth of his tender embrace. Never had Faith felt such safety or such a sense of belonging as she did in Dmitri's arms.
As she looked up into his eyes she saw such a wealth of emotion. Love. Joy. Hunger. Abject fear. Faith had to laugh at the combination of feelings bombarding her from her mate. Though to the world he showed a stoic mien he truly was a drama queen.
"Good afternoon my mate." Faith greeted Dmitri while cuddling closer to his warmth.
Dmitri wrapped his body around his mate resting his chin on her head.
"Solynshko Moyà, how are you feeling?" Dmitri gently cupped Faith's face in his palm as he gazed worriedly into her eyes.
"I'm wonderful. " Faith smiled brightly at Dmitri while leaning forward to place a soft kiss upon his lips. " Do you know why I am so happy, Dimi?"
A cocky grin spread across Dmitri's face. He was not quite sure what had happened this morning. Why after all this time they had been insatiable. But he knew he had pleased his little mate.
Faith seeing the smug look slapped at his arm while laughing. jumping up from the bed she started towards the bathroom.
"Not that you pervert! I have started my immortal path. " Faith squealed excitedly "And do you know what that means?"
Dmitri's smug smile dropped from his face as Faith felt his confusion at her question.
"I not only get to walk by myself you now have to teach me to drive!"
Giggling at the stunned look on her mates face, Faith rushed into the bathroom slamming the door behind her.
Dmitri lounged on the bed feeling a contentment deep in his soul he had never felt before. He wasn't sure how he had been so blessed as getting a mate. Warriors were not supposed to have one. He knew though he would cherish this gift for eternity.
He and Faith needed to talk. Dmitri was not sure what happened this morning and how it had led to her becoming immortal. Was it finding her mate? That wouldn't make sense though. What would happen if she hadn't found him when she was still young? It had to have something to do with her Fae half, because shifters had very specific events that led up to them becoming immortal.
Faith had quickly used the bathroom, washing her face and brushing her teeth. Now she stood in the doorway watching as her mate lay thinking deeply on the bed. Walking over to him she sat down and entwined her fingers with his.
"What has you thinking so deeply Dimi?" Faith raised his scarred, calloused hand to her face a placed fleeting kisses across his knuckles.
Dmitri clenched his eyes shut as the tender gesture brought shooting pains to his chest making his eyes water.
"What happened this morning? Not the part where our souls joined. That I recognize from tales told. But before. Why were we like that."
"That is a Fae heat. According to my mother when a Fae reaches the age to shift into immortality they must have something to help push them through. This is why Fae become immortal later than others.
When our body and mind is strong enough to withstand the force of our powers strengthening, we emit a pheromone that broadcasts our readiness to those that are strong enough to prepare us."
"I don't think I understand". Dmitri was confused. How did he help push her into her adulthood?
"Dimi, it was the sex. " Faith tried to say it with confidence, but the light blush covering her face gave way her embarrassment in having to explain.
" Until a Fae juvenile is ready to continue on their path to adulthood they do not feel uh the need for that" Faith stumbled over her explanation making Dmitri smile.
"That Solynoshko Moya? " Dmitri pulled his mate beneath him and laid heated kisses against her neck. "You mean they do not feel the need to mate? Their bodies don't heat from the touch of a hand? Was it when I entered your sweet body? Was that when you became immortal? When I made you mine?"
Faith moaned wantonly arching into his body as his mouth became bruising in its intensity.
"Tell me, my female when did you become immortal?". At this point, Dmitri did not care when it had happened. He just wanted to hear his innocent mate try to talk about sex.
"When, oh goddess, Dmitri more" Faith moaned as Dmitri nipped along her neck and shoulder.
"Tell me then I will give you more". Dmitri teased.
"When I orgasmed!" Faith said on a breathy scream as Dmitri slid his hand between her legs teasing her wet heat.
"Show me.". Growling deeply Dmitri shoved her legs wide and settled deep into the cradle of her body.
Faith stood looking out the window as she finished up the dishes from lunch. The young were chasing Dmitri through the snow. He had a small smile as the boys laughed at something Eric yelled.
A contented smile graced her face as she thought of Dmitri, her true mate. The one who now held half her soul as she held half of his. When their souls had first joined she had wanted to cry as she had seen the abject loneliness that was such an integral part of him. Hundreds of years with no one but his team members beside him.
Now though, he had her and the young. He would no longer have to travel the long road of immortality in solitude. Faith planned on making sure each day he felt loved and needed.
After placing the last dish on the drying rack she grabbed her coat and went to join her new family. Dmitri had told her that he and his team would be leaving early the next morning and she wanted to spend as much time as she could together.
